VARguments

Its a flawed system ..always will be..its only as good as the people running it ..like watching a match in the pub with your mate and a tough decision arises, you think its 100% a foul , your mate doesn't ..so what decision do you give the ref ?

That's why there needs to be a 20 second panel of 5 experts in the control room on all major calls. Majority vote decides. It would nip it all in the bud imo. Fans also have to understand the subjectivity of decision making.

Would that be five experts like the one in charge yesterday?

Coaches, ex players, officials combined just like PGMOL panels.
I get your drift but how many times do we see *expert* pundits etc. disagreeing, ultimately it’s down to someone’s opinion, so if you have say five as you suggest would a three v two majority decide on the decision?

Yeah. I don't see a better option at the moment. Of course there will always be disagreement but if you have 3 professionals in agreement it'd negate any claims that it's a terrible decision.

Not sure what Sean Dyche is moaning about. Gomes go through Royal to get the ball, clear foul.

Boly yellow card was beyond a joke.

Normal form for most managers, spouting complete shite about fair decisions that don't go their way. He was moaning that the ref thought it wasn't a foul. The ref wasn't sure so he let play continue so that VAR could have a better look at it. As poor as some refs are they aren't nearly as idiotic as the managers are about key decisions.

Goes through him ??? Have a word man ffs 😳😂 More like breathes down his neck

The ref and linesman didn’t give anything yet VAR sees a slight touch on the Spurs player

It's small contact but not enough for me to overturn it," Dean said speaking on Sky Sports. "It's minimal contact, they've recommended to look at it, the assistant referee had a good view originally would've said, 'no foul, no foul', they've shown a picture of it but it's very soft."

So the ref and linesman let it go to hope VAR would intervene? Haha ok mate they didn’t as they didn’t feel it was a foul

Unless you haven't watched any football for the last 2 years you'd know that officials regularly let the game run as they know VAR will pick up anything they've missed. It's been one of the biggest criticisms recently and time and again referees are following the same principle that linesmen are in letting the game run so they don't unnecessarily stop an attack.

It was a very soft foul to give both the ref and linesman would’ve stopped the game if they felt it was a clear foul

VAR got it wrong the ref got it wrong on the advice of the idiot on VAR

Take of the blue glasses man. Gomes comes flying in and his right knee clatters into Royal's left knee, along with the arm on the shoulder to add a bit more force into it foul all day long as Gomes is nowhere near getting the ball. If that was against you and allowed you'd be fuming that it wasn't given as a foul.

This! If the ref isn't sure it's a foul then rather than stop an obvious attacking move he lets it continue as the end result could be a goal. If he blows then that goal never exists so there would be no argument over it stopping a goal, it would have just been a potential attack that ended abruptly. If there was no goal then nobody gives a toss either. Even Shearer came out with the crap about "the ref and lino didn't think it was a foul" so obviously not realising that not all foul

The ref was a distance away with 1 unique viewing angle at real-time, with a player running past him just before contact and like some, who can't even see it in the slow-mo replays, may not have clearly seen the contact or force involved.

Why didn’t VAR see a very clear pull by a Spurs player on a set piece ? On a coffee break 🙄

Everything looks worse in slow motion

Stop pretending to be a MOTD highlight editor … Plenty of ex players and refs says it was soft

Any pics of the linesman view ????
