It's the arbitrariness of it that's annoying. They will penalise one foul at a corner but ignore instances of the opposition fouling at the same time.
 

Won't be a set of fans in the premier who don't think Var has went against them this side. Any var decisions or non decisions that have favoured there clubs tend to get forgotten about

I'd sling it out. Authorities and fans need to put their big boy pants on and just accept the refs decisions. You'd hope most to be right, but also expect there to be some wrong. Especially with the amount of seemingly organised cheating that goes on. How many poleaxed players writhing around on the ground,, suddenly jump up and sprint after the play, when the ref ignores them.

Refs have a very difficult job, especially when broadcasters show instant replays. Ban the replays, and get on with the game. That's not going to happen though.

For the record, my impression was that Ballard had his hand on the top of the players back and may have pushed, and got a handful of hair. Yellow card.

Well it was, because the screens in the stadium said that Var was checking for a foul, so it must have been a decision to make, but my point was I genuinely hadn't seen it back so didn't know if it was or wasn't a foul.
 
Not sure who wants it. Someone must be making money out of it somewhere.

I can’t even believe refs like it - if I made 2 or 3 clear and obvious errors with material impact every 90 minutes at work, not sure I’d still be employed.

Fortunately some people understand that a mistake made in this context is an inevitable product of making calls in real time where they are often having to guess. Let's sack all referees and have games with no ref.

Not what I said or meant - but there is a grain of truth in there I suppose. Given that all important decisions are re-reffed, not sure why they get paid paid so much.

But - Lots of people make decisions real time, considerably more important and harder than their decisions. Imagine a paramedic making 2 or 3 material mistakes which have impact in a 90 minute period!

The referee's decision may not always be right but the referee's decision is final. That worked for 140 years.

If we want VAR then there are working examples in sport already. Either have the challenge system of cricket and tennis on penalties and red cards or have the rugby system where the referee can request additional angles if he's not sure. Simple. Don't have additional refs in a van re-reffing the game.

If you stopped it tomorrow , it would only take a couple of howlers before there would be a huge outcry to bring it back .
