In the video they are looking for wounds once they have th me cuffs on him, what they're doing is protecting themselves due to past reviews indicating that perpetrators pretending to be injured then if they fail to cuff them they attack the police, they have cuffed him for their own protection then checked for wounds now in normal instances the wounds are life threatening but not to the level they were for this lad. Clearly a lot of blood loss meant he wasn't going to survive either way but had his wounds not been as bad it would have been the very police being berated in this thread that would have saved his life.
I agree about officers cuffing suspects for their own safety before checking for wounds. But this lad is literally not moving and has to be dragged out from behind the car. How many times has someone "played dead" then attacked a police officer coming to help them?
Plus his alleged offence is a racially aggravated assault and pulling a turban off - there wasn't any report of him having a knife or a gun...it's not as if the police are turning up to a multiple stabbing report.
However, I also don't think it's as bad as certain elements of the media are making out - as they will jump on it for their own political aims. I accept that the officers turning up to that job face a difficult situation. The camera footage is only around 2 minutes long, in which time time the lad has passed away. It's just an error of judgment in a fast paced situation, which has become massively amplified because a lad has been stabbed and passed away.
