Units at the Keel Sq hotel?

1st came across booking tables in Dublin ,wasnt booked til 1am they wouldn't let us use it at 11pm, ridiculous, we did though
Was the first time pubs were allowed to open on Good Friday , this was the Thurs and was a great night

Nice food in The Botonist spoiled by the "service charge". Doubt I would go back for food as I try and avoid places that force the service charge. More amaerican bullsh*t.

Yes but you shouldn't have to & people feel bad / cheeky about asking for them to be removed. I know if I did, the misses would be "eeeee, you can't do that youre embarrassing me"
Each to their own I guess but I tend to leave the amount that's on the bill anyway

Do you not normally leave a tip?

Yeah just not as much as 10%.
Most people do as they don't want the awkwardness. For me It's blatant profiteering & fundamentally dishonest.

Massively. The best thing was when we paid by card the card machine asked if we wanted to leave a tip. You're already getting 10% off me which the staff will never see and now you want me to leave a tip too.

Its just dishonest and greedy and is now becoming the new normal.

Yeah I won't leave a tip if the service charge is on

If the service has been poor then you should feel confident enough to discuss this with your server, or ask to see the manager.
If not, then just pay up and leave quietly.
Don’t moan about it afterwards.

of all the things that won't work, i imagine a brewdog will be right up there. notorious for highly priced specialised beers and being psuedo-hipster , it won't work in sunderland.

the botanist / muddler / keel tavern appeal to a wide range of people, brewdog is pretty niche in comparison. it wouldn't last 5 minutes in sunderland currently
Brewdog would work down roker
Keel Tavern/Botanist etc will attract people to the city who perhaps wouldn’t come here and would rather travel to Newcastle/Durham.

They are especially appealing to large groups like Christmas Work Do’s, Birthdays etc. Once they’re in the town, they’ll move around and drink in other places.

I doubt these other pubs will be complaining when they come into their establishment.
They have been built for people who don't exist here yet. The workers of vauxland

Only if its advertised on the menu that everything actually cost 10 or 15% more than they what's stated. If they just slap it on without any notice, you're well within your rights to complain about it.
