I’ll be expecting Christopher Biggins and Gillian Taylforth to appear out of the dense jungle. Safari?Looks good. Maybe overdone it a bit with the plants. Bar area looks very smart.
The Board inn is the same. Ridiculous like. Shouldn't be allowed. Was gonna say all this reserve table bollocks , fine for food but it’s shit for drinks sad state affairs , few of us went rosedene couple Fridays back to watch the Ipswich match and the tables were all reserved , it’s meant to be a pub ffs

Do you not normally leave a tip?Nice food in The Botonist spoiled by the "service charge". Doubt I would go back for food as I try and avoid places that force the service charge. More amaerican bullsh*t.
Do you not normally leave a tip?
You can ask for them to be taken off and leave a tip if you wantTips are on the customers terms, service charges aren't & are canny brazen imho
You can ask for them to be taken off and leave a tip if you want
Each to their own I guess but I tend to leave the amount that's on the bill anywayYes but you shouldn't have to & people feel bad / cheeky about asking for them to be removed. I know if I did, the misses would be "eeeee, you can't do that youre embarrassing me"

Most people do as they don't want the awkwardness. For me It's blatant profiteering & fundamentally dishonest.
Yeah I won't leave a tip if the service charge is onYeah just not as much as 10%.
Massively. The best thing was when we paid by card the card machine asked if we wanted to leave a tip. You're already getting 10% off me which the staff will never see and now you want me to leave a tip too.
Its just dishonest and greedy and is now becoming the new normal.
Brewdog would work down rokerof all the things that won't work, i imagine a brewdog will be right up there. notorious for highly priced specialised beers and being psuedo-hipster , it won't work in sunderland.
the botanist / muddler / keel tavern appeal to a wide range of people, brewdog is pretty niche in comparison. it wouldn't last 5 minutes in sunderland currently
They have been built for people who don't exist here yet. The workers of vauxlandKeel Tavern/Botanist etc will attract people to the city who perhaps wouldn’t come here and would rather travel to Newcastle/Durham.
They are especially appealing to large groups like Christmas Work Do’s, Birthdays etc. Once they’re in the town, they’ll move around and drink in other places.
I doubt these other pubs will be complaining when they come into their establishment.
If the service has been poor then you should feel confident enough to discuss this with your server, or ask to see the manager.
If not, then just pay up and leave quietly.
Don’t moan about it afterwards.
