Im not mate. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy in demanding more imaginative signings when were so short, time is limited as are funds and also much of it is because of how the likes of Wagner at Huddersfield approached it. but that ignores that just like Grayson is now, Wagner used his knowledge of an area and level he was well aware of. Something Grayson seemingly is already being criticised for.
 
The club doesn't learn, get loans in, they get experience and then go back to their parent clubs and we are at square one. We compound this by selling our good kids. We will always be shite under short.

So if Browning and Galloway make significant contributions towards SAFC getting promoted, you'll resent them.

Does the terms of their employment really matter ? We could sign someone on a permanent deal and then they might want to leave after one season (for example, Gyan, Kaboul and Kone tried it on)

If the loan system can be used to improve the club's chances of success and relieve pressure on the transfer budget until next year, then surely this is to be welcomed.
 
Newcastle mainly bought most of their squad last season and are now trying to get the money back on those same players which will never happen.

I'm happy for us to get in as many loans as possible and save the money we have in case we do actually get promoted and end up with a full squad of players that are nowhere near good enough for the Prem

Top clubs don't loan in players, they loan them out to get experience without making the mistakes that cost points for the parent club. Are you saying we are a well run outfit and short is a genius in all matters of football?

Our mistakes have been poor recruitment - end of f***ing story. The loans have never been the problem. We must have spent the neck end of 300m in the ten years in the top flight over approx 200 players and a maybe 30 to 40 loans, generally players of better quality than we've been able to buy are an issue?

We're not a top club. Clubs outside the top six do loan players. It enables them to move on as generally they don't waste £20m+ every season making their first team worse with permanent signings.

Touchy, that could've been one of my hissy for posts mate. Yep, I think the OP is celebrating the change. No hint of irony.
 
Don't care where they come from, what they cost or if they're on loan. Welbeck, Rose , Alonso, Ki, Mvilla and Borini have been cracking loan signings that contributed more than many permanent signings that ended up leaving for next to nowt anyway. Seb and Vaughan and even Jones have been reasonable freebies. Whitehead, Collins, Sleeves and even Lawrence were bargain buys. The issue isn't really what they cost but whether they will contribute. We've, too often, got the big signings wrong and ended up recouping feck all. If we'd managed to get our money back( not entirely unrealistic given the inflation of fees) on Fletcher, Giachierini, Borini, Johnson and a few others we'd be around 50 million quid better of. Add Rodwell, Khazri and Lens to that, for whom we will be lucky to recoup much more than 10-12 million for and you could add almost 30 million more. If we are 110 million in debt that would account for around 80 million and the sale of Pickford would just about have put us in the black.
It's not difficult to work out what we've got wrong!

Exactly this. People look for other reasons, no idea why. Its simple why we have struggled, poor recruitment and strategy. Still amazed people think we would have done better spending even more money. We would just have wasted it.
 
We need hungry players of varying ages to push us on. Some will be loans some will be free and some like McGeady will cost money and split opinion. Grayson needs time so he can set up his scouting network so we can look to bring in the hard working quality players in that he can develope.He will no doubt have an extensive list of players that he has for consideration already that have been scouted over the years since he has been at Preston. I look forward to the bargain buys because we just know they will put the hard yards in for the club and the shirt.

If we get promoted we're not back to square one, were out of the Championship. If it took a full first team of loans and we didn't sign a single one it would be a massive success.
