Don’t think Swann is underrated. A truly world class off spin bowler. The fact he’s an absolute grade A walloper shouldn’t alter the fact.
Colly was a player who made the absolute most of what he had. Far more talented players have never had close to the career he had.
He wasn't a great all rounder. He was undoubtedly a great test batsman. It's doubtful if he'd be worthy of even a test place on his bowling alone.Jaques Kallis, never really mentioned when talking about the great all rounders.

He didn’t bowl that much towards the end howeverTrue but it was spread over 166 tests.
Quite but almost all players' averages are skewed adversely towards the end unless they've retired in their prime. Only a handful of innings fifors and never 10 wickets in a match. He didn’t bowl that much towards the end however

Maybe it was the Hadlee comparisons at the start of his career which was a bit unfair on him.Andy Caddick, just missed England's renaissance 2005 onwards.
Not saying he's as good as Jimmy or Broad but his stats are still decent in a poorer era.

IIRC, Caddick was fairly average in the opposition's first innings and very good in their second.A fair bit better than Brett Lee's but significantly worse than Kemar Roach Some stats are mental.
Couldn't review to save his life, mind. Bairstow-esqueShane Watson
3,700 odd runs at 35
75 wickets at 33
widely mocked but actually a decent player
You’re right there. Got bowled less mindCouldn't review to save his life, mind. Bairstow-esque
