Trouble after match

Eventually Sunderland supporters will lose patience with one of these groups and they'll take a pasting. Whenever we go away they're all friendly in the pubs before the match. But go in after and the numbers are reversed, they started acting up. Crewe was like that in the Corner Bar, their hooligans arrived and told a handful of Sunderland shirts they had 5 minutes to get out.

Wankers.
The away fans are lucky they’re at the end of the ground they are. I think most of the lads who would react as you suggest congregate at the south stand within our fans. I’ve sat in the north stand for 20+ years and couldn’t imagine many of that lot reacting to the away fans. Would be more bother if they were coming out into the south stand crowd than the OAP end

Atmosphere and security are two different things though mate. Removing the atmosphere aspect, the reality is in the PL and Championship, there was no real security issues with the away fans. Since we entered this league though, it’s been a f***ing nightmare.

Off the top of my head, Oxford, Pompey, Southend, Morecombe, Luton and of course Coventry, have all behaved like dicks
Yep so stick them in the south stand where they originally were and they can't throw flares and the likes down and can be easily identified if they act up and tossed out.

The flair landed in the row behind us - row 29. Old fellas and women copped it.
Stewards came over in an unorganised manner and ones says to me “Where did it come from ?”
He genuinely didn’t realise it had been hoyed down from upstairs…… frightening 😳
Before the smoke bomb was thrown you could sense the songs weren’t the usual song sheet and there was a different atmosphere- feed the mackems and Sunderland massive aren’t the usual away songs and you would have thought someone would have realised.

Let’s be honest it was way better when they were in the SS. Problem is now, moving people to accommodate again.

Although you could easily make the SWC the signing section and the SEC the family part.

Yep, I said exactly that to my mate.

Just a few voices singing those songs because the genuine away fans obviously don’t know them

To be fair ‘feed the (insert name)’ is a fairly common chant at grounds all over the country at this time of year. We’ve sung it plenty ourselves over the years, I’ve heard feed the mags, feed the cockneys, feed the scousers. Morecambe charvers on their big day out giving it the billy big bollocks adopting mag songs to try and wind people up.

This is true, moving them back would improve the atmosphere through out the ground and remove the safety / security risk… club should put it to a vote for next season

This ^

The fact the police were only appeared after full time is a disgrace really.

Bit of an edge about them in the tavern before the game. By the time we walked past the north stand just a couple whining at police and about 4 locals getting told off. Not really ‘agro’.
Had a few in the Avenue pre match, asked the wifey behind the bar if this was the Blue Oyster bar at night.
They ducked off before I went up for another pint.
I’m thinking Sam Heughan will play me in the movie.

Surely this needs to open up the wider issue of how they are getting tickets as there is no pay on the gate.

The away teams need to be held to account on this.

Totally. As I posted earlier, rather than us cashing in on a clubs big day out, we need to be much stricter on allocations. Going back to the first season in this league, there was no reason to give Luton, Coventry and Pompey big allocations - except to cash in

Away fans should never have been placed in the North Stand Upper. Ridiculous, naive decision.

Too easy to chuck stuff down on our fans or towards the pitch without being properly seen, and at the end of the day the stewards are not the police and as we’ve seen with a couple of clubs such as Coventry they haven’t a scooby if it kicks off.

Get them out of there.
Put them back in the South Stand then where they belong.

Because it isn’t happening is my guess, as if the club wouldn’t pick up on it if sizeable amounts of tickets were being sold to Tyneside addresses. I know it’s probably what a lot want to believe though.

Surely the CCTV picked up the one who threw the flare? If so, they should have locked their he gates and let them out one by one until they got him (I presume!)

Tonight very much sounded like mags mind, a few voices trying to get anti Sunderland songs going at 3-0 down. Most morecambe fans would be sick and just thinking about the journey home. There's a morecambe fan on twitter (I know) suggesting there was about 50 Newcastle fans there, plenty others have heard Newcastle accents amongst the morecambe fans. I have no doubt a number of them were there. Safc will give morecambe tickets to sell. I doubt morecambe will give a fuck if they're going to tyneside addresses tbh
