Tommy Watson

We can all forgive a shit performance but that performance against Bristol City was one of the worst I've ever seen. I don't know the lad personally but it just looked like someone that didn't give a shit.

IF that is the case I hope we just tell him to fuck off and not bother turning up for training.
Particularly disgraceful as he is a local lad and Sunderland have supported him since he was a child.

A very ungrateful so and so.

That’s the same thing though. It doesn’t matter if people think it shouldn’t have been announced or whatever, the issue with him not putting the effort in is totally on the player.
Just when you think SAFC had got these sort of things handled they prove to us they haven’t

This thread shouldn't be about how good or bad Watson is. It should be highlighting how unprofessional he has been and how he's let down an awful lot of people in his teammates, coaching staff and fans. You can tell he's spent a lot of time in the company of Ian Harte. It's a shame how it's ended.

Worse that he’s taking advice from Danny graham of all people

I’ve said before players don’t always see things as us the fans do.
Living the dream playing for his home town club obviously isn’t that much of a big deal for him, especially when money comes into the equation, at the end of the day they’re professionals.
If he even at 18 had half a brain he could have handled this differently but being handled by an agent who has proven he doesn’t even possess half a brain then there was probably no hope of this being done with any decorum.
Chuck the cynical hard nosed potential father in law into the mix and the boy has probably alienated himself from his home town fan base for ever especially when he looks as though he doesn’t give a fuck on the field.
I hope they pull him from the squad tomorrow because it could get ugly.

I agree…once the deal was agreed Tommy should have been parked. He is about to sign a life changing contract which will set him up for life. The vast majority of players and supporters on here would then seek to ensure he is fit to sign that contract. It is madness to expect him to do otherwise, it is madness to play him under these circumstances and it is absolutely unfair to abuse a young professional footballer in this way.
Most people would take the cash ...that human nature

But for a lad who is safc born and bred the manner of this transitional phase is soo f***ing bad. You might have thought he would want to go out with a bang. Leave a little bit of a legacy.

No

What happening is he shitting the bed and taking a shirt he clearly doesn't want. I'd play any fucker on lw wing bar him ...yes even hjelde.

LEO might have all the attacking threat of an autistic james bond...but he tries
a useless stiff is still better that a f***ing miserable tourist that is day dripping thru a match

Who has made a mistake? Can you see into the future?Time will tell. It's embarrassing grown men writing him off on here, just because he has left us.

I’m not sure grown men are writing him off for leaving us, they are writing him off because he has been playing shite and they can’t see a 10 million pound player in him.

That’s a fair observation from what I’ve seen so far tbh.

No can't see in the future but I can probably tell you 100s of managers transfer mistakes in the past. Just pointing out that just because the Brighton manager wants to sign him won't necessarily mean the people on here writing him off will be wrong.
Agreed only time will tell if he ends up being a success.

From what other posters have said it's unlikely he will use Mayenda and Isidor together from the start tomorrow. I think he will put Le Fee on the bench and possibly Dan Neil. The other issue is Roberts also needs to be managed so we might have a team with little natural width. Could Rhys Walsh make an appearance? Tutierov?

Hes been hung out to dry by the club who were so desperate for the 10 million they desperately did the deal outside of the transfer window. Yes hes been poor but question the manager who plays him. And no he aint the only option. Piss poor management of a player from the club.
I don't think we know enough about the situation to say the club were desperate for the money tbh. I didn't think Watson looked right when he came back after the window, but put it down to him having been out and getting back up to speed. But maybe he wanted to go in January, the deal wasn't done, and instead of being professional and getting on with it he ended up letting it affect him. Perhaps the club accepted the bid out with the window, thinking at least it would resolve it and maybe he would then give all his focus on safc until the end of the season knowing it was done.

It's definitely fair to question the decision to play him but any time a player is lucky enough to wear our shirt and looks utterly disinterested they deserve criticism as well. In his case he's a supposed supporter, his PL move and money confirmed and he's got a chance to help us get promoted. To be jogging about like he has been is a slap in the face to everyone at the club who helped get him where he is today and everyone who has sat and supported him from the youth levels up. There's a way to do things and, regardless of what the club could have done differently, he's been utterly unprofessional.

He is only a youngun and I expect as he gets older he'll look back on this episode with regret. And unless his attitude improves significantly he'll look back on it having failed to make the most of his talent. Imagine a lot of the top players with a burning will to win going through the motions like that. They wouldn't even do it in training. Hopefully nowhere near the squad come playoffs and if he is, that's when I'll really question the manager

From what I’ve seen he looks average (from games I’ve seen him in)

Not seen his youth and 21s like you like but he hasn’t shone in the first team.

I do feel Brighton have a good eye for a youth player though.

His attitude just seemed shite against Bristol which I think people should be addressing that.
I get why we are angry but let's not rewrite history,he was the best thing since sliced bread before all of this. He's gone to Brighton as they really wanted him, if he was a bang average championship player then they wouldn't be in for him. The split side is that he also must be looking around and seeing what we are doing and thinking fuck this.
He’s had two good performances in this league, however I get that he’s a bairn still like and other than that has looked average like most kids in this league when starting out.

He's clearly highly rated though and looked good before his injury. I can't defend his performances since but to all of sudden say he's just not that good etc etc is nonsense really
