Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Same tbh, and I think he looks okay when he plays, but if he really is the man to replace Rigg I'd expect him to be getting at least a few minutes off the bench now. Looks like RLB doesn't rate/ trust him and can't imagine he'll suddenly be starting him next season
This is the thing I don’t get as well. I mean the main area to judge any player has to be on the pitch and from what I’ve briefly saw from Aleksic I genuinely believe he looks like he can add something to the squad. Just Sat week after week getting no minutes at all doesn’t seem very productive to me, but I’m no expert.

If the manager thinks Tommy Watson can help us get promotion then I'm happy for him to contribute in anyway he can.

If Mundle gets injured again he would play likely play a fairly major part in our end of the season.

The club comes before any player. I wouldn't be cutting our noses off to spite our face.

Tommy Watson has the potential to be better than Jack Clarke. He has similar ability and a lot more pace. However, we'll have to wait to see how his career pans out.
Can't argue with a word of that, as much as people will.

Hmmm I dinnar. Mundle's still ahead of him.

Bridges showed an awful lot more here over a much longer period than Tommy Watson has.

I concede that Brighton wanting him is at least some indication of his talent.

Either way, it's done, we move on with a bit of money in our pocket. What becomes of Tommy Watson is no longer our concern, but he's not what we need at the minute.
Agree with the your overall sentiment mate

No chance he’ll give 100%. He only sees the season as having 7 games left, so he’s not even thinking about playoffs.

You think he’s going to give the same effort as someone like 09 or Hume, whose future is affected massively by whether we’re promoted or not?
Do you think it'll impress his new employers if he downs tools now? He'll want the best for his career, which this move is, and every single game is part of his career.

He'll give 100% imo

And Mundle.

And Le Fee.

I think some people got very excited about Watson, but even in his best games for us I wasn't massively impressed.
I thought Watson has had 2 good games for us

Stoke home
Sheff U away

The rest of the time he’s been distinctly average at best, and usually well below average.

He’s only 18 so obviously has a lot of potential, but £10m now for a lad refusing to sign a new deal who’s not mentally wanting to stay here is good business.

We need to honest here mate and acknowledge that if we don’t get promoted, both of those lads will leave. The Watson sale won’t help that sadly.
There could be up to another four out the door before the loans go back imho. We’ve set a precedent now by saying we won’t stand in the way of players going should they go past what we currently offer. I think we will lose jobe regardless tbh, I’m starting to think that might be the case with rigg too. Barring going up I do t think eithers stock will be higher price wise. I think we could add Neil and maybe cerkin on that too given their contract situation and Neil especially has garnered interest in the past year. The team that starts next season here should we fail to go up could look very different and we maybe in a transitional season again.

He hasn’t been giving 100% ever since coming back from injury imo. He’s been reluctant to get stuck in and burst a gut for us.

I don't think we should be playing him at all unless necessary (ie an injury crisis).

But that's because he should be third choice left winger, as he is way behind Mundle in terms of what he brings to the team, and I think that even Le Fee playing out of position offered much more.

It's the football bit I'm interested in - not the financial side of things. And we've scored £10m for a kid who has had 2 good games for the first team, in 16 appearances. I'm not going to miss a kid who has done next to nothing for us. I think it's a bad decision for him - if Jack Clarke is struggling in that position at that level, Tommy Watson would sink without trace if he plays any time soon - but I'm not arsed about that either way tbh. He might become the player he seems to think he is.

Hopefully the fact that we know for certain he is leaving means that there won't be a temptation to select him to boost his value or keep him happy, because if the team is being selected on merit, with everyone fit, he would get very few minutes, if any, for the rest of the season.

Oh well, he wasn't in the squad or team, then he was for a bit, then he wasn't, he is again and then he's away. Nowt to be too bothered about, he might be good, he might sink, but he won't be doing either with us so we'll take the cash and try and use it wisely. That's the business, outside the team emotion.

It was good business in January - less so in April

This would have been ongoing since January, I reckon the club, staff & players were all aware it’s likely to happen regardless.

Harte was about to break the news imo which is why we have announced it early.
But now it’s going to be tough to play him… it’s not like we’ve nothing to play for is it? Timing sucks.

You're wasting your time mate

Its the 'I want it now and I'll stamp my feet till I get it' culture, its rife in society as a whole as well as amongst a large section of our support who absolutely refuse to look at the long term picture.
🤣🤣 weve been out the premier league for about 10 year 🤣🤣

Or maybe he hasn't been 100% sauce coming back from injury because he's coming back from injury?

Mundle have been as good since coming back from injury, is he away anarl?

After a decade out of the top flight and with a season ticket the entire time, how long am I supposed to wait for a bit of success mr perfect fine? Just so I know really.
