Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

You can’t see it’s different this time?

Cirkin, Neil, Watson all into last 12 months. Do you see any of them signing a new deal in the summer in the Championship? (I’ve said if we go up then the scenario is different). We have THREE Clarke/Stewart scenarios in the same summer

It’s unlikely Jobe will have another season in the championship

I’ve said I’m hopeful we can keep Rigg for another year but even that isn’t a given

Mepham is unlikely if we don’t go up and we’ve no chance with Le Fee

I’d be very surprised if we only lose 1 or 2 this summer if we don’t go up.

The club have done well at turning down offers for players on longer contracts which gives more confidence on Hume, Mayenda, Mundle, Ballard. Who knows what the situation is with Patterson.
Imo most of our players are overrated on here. If they were as good as some on here think we would have had more than one comfortable win this season, ie Sheff Wed at home.

Watson has achieved nowt yet. Neil and Cirkin have certainly not stood out consistently- perhaps intermittently.

As for Jobe, if he was not Jude’s brother there would be nowhere near the current hype about him. Ok he belted one in at home to Oxford early season but how many shots has he skied over the bar or hit so tamely they barely reached the keeper? Can’t remember the last time he had any significant impact on a game - months ago.

Look forward to seeing Aleksic and Triantis in midfield after the mega sale some are expecting.

Not really sure what that has to do with my post, but if the rant makes you feel better ;)

Do you not like any of our players like??
If they’re all so shite then what does that make the players in the 20 teams below us?

I like most of our players but don’t think they are superstars. I liked many of our players when we were in League 1 too.

I suppose I was reacting to your suggestion that we could lose quite a lot of our better players in the summer. Personally, I think nearly all of them are playing at their appropriate level. If Prem teams come for them we can replace with players at least as good as the leaving players have been this year.

Yet, some may well become superstars and they are all very young. Of course we'll lose some, but for immense profits. If Watson really really wants to move to Brighton, then we'll let him if they meet our demands, if not they will be told to bugger off.

On the flip side of not going up, and a good amount of our current squad leaving. The player sales of Jobe, Neil, Cirkin, and Watson alone should give us a big transfer kitty for next season (not that I'm wanting them to leave btw).

The huge question would be, that with the squad being depleted of some of its better players, would the club put the big money that is recouped from the players into the playing squad to challenge for promotion or would it be used sustainably to again build slowly?

I'm personally inclined to belive it would be the latter, given that there was room to make a serious push in January to bring in (either permanently or on loan) players to help with the push for automatic promotion, but what we got wasn't nearly enough.

Let's just hope we have some luck in the playoffs and mange to go up. The summer will be filled with serious doubt and many questions otherwise.
What will we do with a big transfer kitty? We’ve paid no more than 3.5m for a player and that’s an exception we have paid hardly any transfer fees, I suspect it’ll be banked and it’ll be more potential based transfers

That is the acid test for the owners this summer. If we don’t get promoted I’d expect at least three of the current squad to leave along with Samed, Le Fee and Mepham.

We’ll no doubt receive decent money for the players we sell but how will it be reinvested?

Well, we've never had a big transfer kitty so that's the big question.

If they rake in 10's of millions and continue to only spend a fraction of what's coming in on younger lads taht aren't ready like Aleksic (apparently) then we're going to be in big trouble.

I'm just hoping we can scrape through, go up, and then it makes the players stay while we can add some much needed strength and quality with the Premier League money. Staying in this league and losing players that we've built a first team around will be difficult to replace at this level.

My biggest hope for our remaining league games is that we get a proper look at Le Fee in central midfield.
