Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Club aren't that silly.
He's not even going to start games ahead of Mundle as things stand.

£13m for a player with 18 months on his deal, I'd have taken it all day long to be honest.

If he stays, I suspect he'll just run down his deal and leave for a minimal fee in the summer/next January.

Different story if he's going to sign a new deal mind.

Watson I know you are reading this, I would be in your shoes. Let me impart some wisdom on you...

In 70 years you do not want to be sitting on the balcony of your villa full of regret. Sure you are financially sorted, but money means nothing once you have it, you quickly get used to it and it's just normal. What really matters is what you've done with your life, did you reach your full potential? Or were you just a middling player who nobody really remembers, because you prioritised money over what's best for your development.

You can be a legend here, stick around and help get us promoted, then get your big contract. There is nowhere better in terms of game time and adoration. You could have your own statue outside the sol.

To Brighton fans you are just another piece of meat, they'll expect the world from you and won't be patient. With us you are like a son, we want you to do well as much as you do.

Don't follow the money and material things, it is an empty and hollow way of life.
It is possible that the lad or his family read this heart to heart from me and it put doubt in his mind. I think it's almost certain they read this forum which is why I wrote it.

Either that or he was never likely to go to Brighton and the so-called in the knows where just pretending to know his friends and family. People who said they were ITK should probably get a temporary ban imo.

Why would it be a minimal fee in the summer?

Thank goodness you aren't in charge then

The lad has more potential than Mundle, loads more

Spot on👍
Maybe positives and negatives in a move, just like there is for the club. It's pretty clear that the club were prepared to let him go for the right deal. The right deal appears to be: if we can get a player now who we think will help us get out of this league this season then it's worth trading a player who we think has a lot of potential, otherwise forget it.

Personally, I'm amazed that the club didn't just take 12 million or whatever for a lad who has barely played. They must think a lot of him.

That's not a given at all.

Mundle will probably be fit first but if he doesn't perform Watson will be replacing him late on in games. If he makes an impact he'll probably start the next game.

From what we can gather he was given permission to travel down ahead of a deal being agreed.

We said him coming was dependent on us getting a player off them as his replacement.

Now being reported by Romano that the deal is off. Presumably because the lad didnt want to come here on loan from Brighton.
Cheers, plenty twists and turns to come yet then me thinks.

ive seen enough kids come through and unless you're stevie wonder you can see the difference in talent he has
I ask again. Who is he a generational talent for Sunderland or in general?

Generational talent is thrown at people like Wayne Rooney and Jude Bellingham etc. not Tommy Watson
