Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Imagine having to take career advice from a piss pot like Danny Graham
Well he doesn’t have too but if Danny Graham is the person he (or his dad) chose to give him career advice of all people you’ve got to think he’s not overly clever, what’s the advice exactly? “Take the money Tommy and become a piss head like me”.

This transfer makes sense if he’s not going to sign a new contract. His value will drop in the summer and he could be leaving for nothing in 16 months

He’s played a handful of games and is a kid. Yes there’s a huge upside there but he could also easily plateau our ability wise. Either way he’s not going to get many minutes in the run in we don’t have many games left and he’s still not fit. Hopefully the cash is used wisely!
Can’t leave for nowt as others have posted, we’d be due a massive wedge of compo.

Take a few mill off easy if we wait until the summer to sell. He doesn't want to sign a new contract by all accounts. Decent offer from Brighton on the table. I don't see much more what the club could be doing in the circumstances. Granted, we absolutely need to get cover in if he goes go (Adringa would be perfect)
Not necessarily true if he plays a blinder for the rest of the season. Theres plenty of interest in him to start a bidding war. Mind you he could down tools too.

He’s not even close. He’s played a handful of games and not always even made an impact.

People going way over the top at this stage.
It wouldn’t be hard to find 50+ posts slagging him off from a couple of months ago. Too weak, no end product etc. probably some of the same people now slagging the club off for selling him.

Can’t be arsed to prove it though.

Proper gutted like but its not the end of the world. Is it £12m? Thats a canny chunk for someone whos played 5 games and is our 2nd choice LW, especially if we can invest it in a striker.

I dont really blame him either, its not like hes going to a Chelsea or a Man City. Brighton are a well run club, he will get game time in the Prem and a chunky pay rise.

Its shite but hopefully we make the most of it.

He looked alright but your right, squad filler as it stands
It’s not a criticism of him, he’s done well and some “off” games are to be expected as he adjusts. It’s more the insane views on here I’m pointing out.

He’s not have made most people list of our top 10 players if he wasn’t being sold. Now he’s off they’re going on like he’s vital to our promotion chances.

The lad has potential, anyone can see that. But ffs he’s had what, 5 or 6 starts in the championship, maybe 3 of them very good games. He’s currently injured, and not probably fully fit till March at least, and he’s behind mundle in the pecking order. If any club wants to hand us a package of 12m for a bit part player then great, take their hands off. No disrespect to the lad, he’s doing what he believes is right for him. He may well go to the top, but even at this stage of his career, the odds are stacked against it. Especially now he won’t be playing first team football other than the odd cup sub appearance.
