If we dont get promoted and watson is bandied around fo 30-40 million in 3 or 4 years time and funding Brightoms prem consolidation i think it will be seenas a terrible decision!

Probably because he only has 18 month left. If he wanted to sign it would be fine by now…

The club have refused at least 3 offers for him. If the player had not told them he was not signing a new deal they would have rejected all offers.

Watson has pushed for the move
 
Seemingly this is on then, just feels like the lad is being badly advised here. Hope it works out but expect him to be out on loan come the start of next season. Very strange by the lad.

Perhaps Speakman dropped the ball with Watson over his contract. There was a big fuss made publically when Ballard (again), Jobe and Rigg were given new contracts, but Watson wasn't. That's pretty humiliating and frustrating for him if the club are telling him how much they rate him.
 
We seem to have cracked the 'selling injured players for inflated fees' market. In all fairness, if he fancies pastures new and we get a big pile of cash, that's got to be considered a win all round. It's not the ideal outcome (from my perspective), but, it'll do.

I can't help feel that this is Jack Clarke, six years ago. Ultimately, staying here and playing might be the best option, career-wise, but, becoming a millionaire aged 18 whilst injured has its appeal.
