Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Not sure what you want the club to do in this situation.

Obviously we don’t know for certain, but we can’t force him to sign a new deal. At that point the club need to then try and get as much money as possible for him. £12m was rumoured to be rejected yesterday, so if they’ve come back with say £14/15m, it’s a hell of a lot for an 18 year old with 5 senior starts to his name, who could leave for a nominal fee next summer.

It’s frustrating as fans as we were all looking forward to his development as he’s looked very, very good when he’s played.
I agree.

It’s hard to take for some, with the view of any fan who let’s face it would play for SAFC for free and them not really understanding how it works.

Wonder if there is an option to loan back for the rest of the season.

His performance against stoke was a real eye opener, he should have had a hattrick and 2 assists but for some poor finishing by his teammates. Just a sickener he got injured straight after.

Players wants to leave
Won't sign a new deal

What is "this club man" supposed to do in that scenario?
Exactly, if you remember he didn't sign his first pro deal straight away, rumours that he wanted the same deal as Rigg and delayed signing for a while. The lad is in a hurry and no doubt has his agent whispering in his ear. When a player is agitating to go and feels he is better than the club then one outcome should be expected. Its strange that he is from a Sunderland supporting family and yet is so keen to go. Equally surprising as that he can see in Neil, Rigg, Jobe and others that patience with someone's career seems to work. Will Watson repilcate Greenwood's career of massive promise to slow decline downwards. Its a massive shame as he is a tremendous prospect and I can't help but think he is making a mistake. Its also worth mentioning that he had a couple of tremendous games but looked physically out of his depth against WBA - although that may be a sign that his a quick learner. A shame but hardly one of the clubs making.

This is down to the club no one else Tommy Watson contract should have been sorted out in the summer

We can’t force him to sign anything though.

The club may have offered pennies, and that’s why he hasn’t signed. The club may have offered a fortune, but he’s made it clear it’s not enough.

Nobody really knows, other than we can’t force him to sign what’s put down in front of him.
