Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

In reality Tommy Watson has played about 5 games in which he's performed to an impressive standard. The other times he’s played he was finding his way.

He’d be mad to move away from his home club and we’d be daft to sell

Because then we’ll have been vindicated in cashing in. Nothing personal against the lad, but part of me hopes every player we sell (the ones we’d rather not sell, Stewart Clarke etc) doesn’t do that well.

Maybe I’m just spiteful
But the better they do when they leave the more attractive the academy becomes
Swap him for Ewan Ferguson....job done
Not sure we could pull this off but if he leaves for them and we can use it to get him on loan then it would soften the blow

10 million for Watson loan deal for Ferguson with option to buy if we go up

By all accounts he's quite a shy reserved lad. Given he's just at the very start of his career in men's footy, I'd suggest he has a better chance of making it by staying here and developing in an environment he knows and is comfortable in than moving hundreds of miles to be surrounded by new coaches, team mates etc

London has been the ruin of many a shy reserved NE lad. No need to look further than this place for evidence of it.
