Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

We deserved the luck we got today compared to recent weeks.

But we’re struggling. If anyone thinks we’ll win a lot of games easily in a row you’re wrong we don’t have the quality. Watson was great today. Thank god. But he’s no world beater and sides will learn how to deal with him he’s very predictable.

You were outed ages ago winning runs like 5/6 like we have done nothing about today was lucky so you clearly didn't watch the game.

He’s not predictable , far from it
Goes either side , comfortable on both feet
Can’t believe you just said that

Was gonna say, he’s a lot like Jack Clarke (obviously some work to reach his levels but that’s fine) but he actually goes outside sometimes which you rarely saw from Jack Clarke.

Was class yesterday. His feet looked a lot quicker than previous games. He was a little more direct.

I like to keep things nice and simple and don't over complicate things when it is not required. I am only concerned with whether or not the player looks like they are good enough for this level. And from what I saw of him yesterday he is.

If you’re quick you can delete this. He scored twice. Should have had his hat trick. Hit the post and should have had 2 assists as well as being a massive threat every time he had the ball. Oh and he won more tackles than any Sunderland player today, pretty good if he is weak In them and backs out of 50/50s.
I’m not saying the lad isn’t or hasn’t got ability, maybe it wasn’t articulated well enough. He’s had a couple of decent games but we shouldn’t be relying on him or inadvertently putting him under pressure to deliver. Hes not good enough yet to take a starting position when everyone is fit. I’d love to think he’ll go on and be an amazing player for us.

Most the SMB thought he was out of his depth two weeks ago which says it all about this board
Not really - I think it shows that a run of games has boosted his confidence and proved to himself that he can play at this level.

Before that he was just making cameo appearances where he would try to play it safe, whereas now he’s being more direct and less frightened to try something

He’s got the full package like and will only get stronger you’d imagine as he grows over the next few years.
Rigg looked a few inches taller today as well. You forget they’re still growing and have got something like 5 years of growing left to do.
At one point yesterday Rigg shoulder charged a player just as he arrived to hassle him , it was excellent pre emptive play and I thought at that point, my god he has strengthened up massively.
Watson will do the same hopefully.Enjoyed his performance immensely yesterday.

Pleased for Watson, he’s been quality these last two games. Hope he keeps it up.

Tbf, Clarke was going down the outside a lot more for us beginning of this season before he moved to Ipswich.

Seems to me it’s an instruction RLB is giving the wingers to mix it up a bit.

Dodds & proctor seem conspicuous by their absence yesterday probably why we won
