Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

How can you have watched him over the last two games and come up with that opinion? Jesus

I agree but we aren't struggling. We are devoid of real quality.
Quality means a consistent run of games playing week in week out steady.

How I've come up with that opinion is that mepham is a shining light in the team. Can't get a game at his parent club, missed yesterday we are all sixes and sevens but consistently gets man of the match when playing.
We need a couple like this.
Watson is a huge prospect. Any one who has seen him in the under 21s will tell you.
It's impossible for them to produce every game. Like Bellingham last year they plato.
You could argue Rigg is hitting this at the moment.

We are in a very good position. The academy is working and producing, but to make that nest step the team needs balance of youth and experience.

He clearly is good enough for this level as he has been the best player on the park in the last 2 games. He is a busy player - dangerous - direct - unpredictable - a young lad - a Sunderland fan playing for his team - he has shooting boots - he has skills - he can go inside or outside - he is creative - wonderful player to watch - he is going to be impactful - and he will have some off days - when he will deserve our support. He should play some part in almost every game for the rest of the season - I would be interested to see if he can play on the right. The only bad thing I could say about him is he has a shit haircut. I have no idea why other posters are saying any other bad things about yesterday's matchwinner. Brilliant lad.
I've seen him on the right maybe three or four times, he wasn't even close to being the same player. Unless he's added this to his skill set relatively recently I'd guess for now we can forget him being shunted out there. In passing, just prior to his elevation to the first team he was being tried as a 10.

When he cuts in, unlike Roberts, he is very direct, rather than crabbing across the penalty area. I'd imagine that it's a nightmare to face him as a centre back.

He obviously did very well with both goals on a difficult day. But against stronger opposition he’s still not strong enough. Very weak tackle must’ve backed out of half a dozen 50-50 today. I know he’s been thrown in, but we shouldn’t overuse him and think he’s the next big thing. The lad needs time to develop properly.
Seems strange that your first criticism is his strength and tackling. He’s a winger, if they’re his biggest faults then he’s doing very well

We deserved the luck we got today compared to recent weeks.

But we’re struggling. If anyone thinks we’ll win a lot of games easily in a row you’re wrong we don’t have the quality. Watson was great today. Thank god. But he’s no world beater and sides will learn how to deal with him he’s very predictable.
Are you OK mate?

I’m not saying the lad isn’t or hasn’t got ability, maybe it wasn’t articulated well enough. He’s had a couple of decent games but we shouldn’t be relying on him or inadvertently putting him under pressure to deliver. Hes not good enough yet to take a starting position when everyone is fit. I’d love to think he’ll go on and be an amazing player for us.
He has improved virtually every game.
Should start too.

Sometimes i wonder what goes on in people's minds who post on here.

Here's a young lad, just 18, only just broke into the team properly, done really well 2 games in a row now.

No ones saying he's already a world beater, yet there's some on the verge of saying he's actually not all that good.

Mind boggling
