Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Good move all round tbh.

We get 12.5m for a lad who's played 2 full games for us, is currently injured and seemingly wants away.
He gets a move to an established PL club who will be good for his progression.

Win, Win.

Hopefully he turns out mint and we're looking at a decent % of a massive fee down the line.

He doesn't start ahead of Mundle when they're both fit. Just need to make sure we end today with a solid backup to replace him (assuming he's not staying here until the summer)

I'd rather have kept him, but when a player asks away, all you can do is get the best deal possible.
He's largely unproven, so I wouldn't say I'm gutted, more disappointed that he's listening to his agent instead of doing what's best for his fledgling career. He won't get much game time at Brighton this season
Aye, it’s a proper shame as I reckon we’d have had a real player for years. As you say thigh, if he wants away and only has 18 months left then it’s about getting the best deal for the club.

18m + add ons is a huge offer, especially if Watson himself won't sign a new contract.

I'd have liked to have seen more of the lad here, but that money could strengthen us further for that promotion push.

Well let’s just see what happens in the next 12 hours. Speakman has always said every player has a price and if someone is willing to spend a mental amount of money on them then they’ll go.

Huge test for the club to see if they can get the business done before the window closes. I’ve no hard feelings towards Watson, best of luck to him. No player is bigger than the club.

“Here we go”
