Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Makes the clarke fee look even more ridiculous if we get more for watson who must have started 3 games for us
Potential isn’t it, 4 years difference between them. Plus Clarke has had his big move earlier in his career.

Agree with this. Brighton shown their interest in the summer which should have been the indication to tie him down.
Having said that, given it seems Watson has pushed this move through - we may have tried to agree a new contract but found similar frustrations.

It's just a shame he picked up his injury as if not we'd probably have been talking towards £20m if he continued on that trajectory
If that report is true it IS towards 20m

Footballing wise it's a bit of a gamble for Tommy. Yet to prove himself at any level but was definitely in line for plenty of opportunities here. Could find himself being loaned out all over now and struggle to settle. Look at Patrick Roberts.

As long as it's a reasonable fee with a sell on
He could also be injury prone. We simply don't know. Getting the cash up front for his potential to be spent today isn't bad business, in my opinion.

and Brighton weren’t signing a boat load of players in a desperate attempt to bolster their squad.
He’ll be for the future there, in order for them to make a profit
