Thomas Cook - going bust?

Travelled regularly for the last 30 years and have always been insured but never claimed. No reason to until today..

Rang them today out of interest to see if they would compensate me in any way.

Paid £93 for a Thomas Cook one way flight. £0 because I got back free. Fair enough.

"What about the delay?"

"15 hours from depature, because I landed in a different airport 20 hours in total"

£15!

Thats what you get for "gold" insurance!

Anyone in the insurance game know if £15 sounds right?


I'll get onto Mastercard tomorrow to see what they say seems Barclays are refunding everyone instantly.

Aye our lass said earlier as she works there, they’ve got two Thomas cook staff, he’s employed loads, must be getting tax relief for taking them.

Missus told me this tonight too. She has done a fair bit of work with freedom travel in the past.

I think they used to effectively hang off TC licenses.. they will now use Hays licenses

Bit of a query. I can't access my email anymore that my holiday was booked under therefore unable to get booking number, atol certificate etc.. When I make my claim surely they'll be able to access all that if I give them my name, address, card used etc... ? Just a bit concerned I might lose the lot otherwise.

It does say on the top of the ATOL certificate that you must have a copy of the certificate in case it goes bust etc.

It may be 100% necessary or may just speed the process up.

Need the certificate to prove it was atol protected. Nowt I can do now until Monday and the forms come out but I'm convinced now that I've lost everything.

Can you prove you paid the company? Does it have a reference anywhere on the payment? No way should you have to prove it was ATOL protected.

Here's what's happened - not Fri gone but the Fri before my phone texted to say it will update during the night, when I woke up it was broken, took it to the shop and they sent it away to get repaired. I got it back yesterday but couldn't access my yahoo account, managed to speak to them and was told it got hacked a week ago and due to the spam emails it had been sending it was shut down with immediate effect. Told them I need documents out of it and they said sorry the email account doesn't exist anymore. I can't get them sent out to a different email cause the hol was booked through Thomas Cook dot com which no longer exists. Every avenue I've searched tells me I need the documents to make a claim. The documents I have no way at all of accessing.

Did you never access emails on your laptop? Downloaded any docs when the booking was made? Just wondering if they might be floating around in cache somewhere.
