The club doesn’t want to go up are you suggesting that this is the goal?

We’re so far off a PL club, I’d say £200m to have a go at staying up maybe more.

Do you think we have that cash?

Why would it cost £200m to stay up? Most of what we have bought were bought from premier league clubs, who were deemed as not quite ready/too young/too inexperienced to play in the premier league. They've all developed, in their time here and if we were to go up this season, they would be seven months further down the line in their development/experience by the time next season starts. Maybe if we go up, Man U will let us keep Amad for another year to continue his development. I don't think that he would be against that scenario cos he seems to love it here.

If the two we've brought in this week fulfil the potential we've been told that they have, would we really be a million miles away?

Saturday will probably be a decent yardstick of how far we are away. We're playing a team at the top half of the Premier League, who are playing well and personally, I don't think we'll be overawed or outclassed. Time will tell on that one, though. I'm sure somebody will have this bookmarked.

I watched Boro being completely turned over by Brighton, who are in a similar position and realised the gulf in class, there, then I watched Boro on Sunday and realised just how piss poor they actually are.
Well that’s bollocks for me

Patto
Hume
Ballard
Cirkin
Neil
Roberts
Clarke
Stewart

All would have a good chance of making it in the prem
Looks like I've just been beaten to the punch.

The model we are using now has put smiles on thousands of fans faces.
In the summer we could possibly lose about 5 - 7 players..IMHO
Wright Gooch Evans Embleton Pritchard Gerahdt Ahmad and even Michut.
So 5 or so players to come in.
I have a feeling we will hold our own in the top flight.
The money will stabilise the club.
Any improvements needed around the SOL and AOL will be done.

Obviously not. Going up should always be the aim.

Look at Burnley and Sheff Utd. Neither spent massive money in the PL compared to other clubs yet are running away with the automatic spots.
Fulham spent a net 30m after going up, and they're absolutely flying. Forest signed 789 new squads at a cost that would make the Saudi PIF wince, and they're going to be in the relegation mix.

It's not all about pi55ing away as much money as possible, there are plenty of teams who have gone up and stayed up, without bankrupting themselves.

Spot on mate, you're allowed back in the trench btw.

I was told earlier in the week from an impeccable source that we are hammering down the door to get Jobe Bellingham from Birmingham! Blues unlikely to budge.

Fulham are not an example to use, given they’ve yo-yoed for a few years and been dining out on PL money and parachute money for that time. They already had a PL capable squad last year, given the rate in which they absolutely smashed the league and should have broken the record points really.

OK then, Brentford 2 years ago. Spent about 30m, finished midtable, and will stay up again this year with decent squad continuity. They've gone up and stayed up, kept a core of players together, and haven't gone out and set fire to the squad list and the budget.

Nobody within the club but a very influential source whose particularly active in transfer deals in various north west EPL clubs - they have been spot on previously and in some cases days/weeks ahead of announcement re Simms, Roberts, Amad, Broadhead - Flannigan to Shrews!

one thing I know for sure - SAFC are industrious and very engaged with all north west EPL teams!

Our interest in Jobe has been common knowledge In football circles for over a week - with various offers made.

Was a slow burner but this week seems like we are going for it and going forva promotion push .
Expecting some departures but as long as its not crucial players we can go full steam ahead for the playoffs .
You score 3 we score 4 attitude hopefully
