This is why I’ll never be comfortable with the model

Every time we sell someone in the model we have been told the club is operating?

Granted the proof will be how we spend the money but haway let's get a grip
Don’t think anyone is having a meltdown that he is going just that the price appears to be far below what could be considered market price.

Selling your better players to bring in others and develop them. Isn’t this exactly what Brighton have done successfully over the years?

Not great seeing good players go but here we are!

It’s easier doing it from the Premier League.

Have a look at a some of the players Brighton signed to get promoted, Glenn Murray being an easy example. An experienced forward guaranteed to get goals but with a low chance of resale value.

Difference is Brighton and Brentford use the money to upgrade their standard of player and replacements each time.

We dilute the quality with a load of bairns and go backwards! 🙄

This. Whilst gradually increasing what they spent on replacements - were yet to really see that or if we're prepared to do it.

They simply didn't dilute what they were spending as much as we have so far. I guess we've only made a couple of sales really - but then Kristjaan shouldn't talk up deals like Lihadji.

If we sell one of our best players, right at the end of the window, for a much lower than expected fee, to a team not much better than us, then yes.

If he was off for £25m to Spurs, Villa, Everton etc it would have made much more sense, but £15m to Ipswich?

Ipswich have a very good chance of being in the championship next season. We will probably be playing them next season and Clarke will still be there.

I f***ing hate Ed Sheeran as well.

I can't get over how our fans struggle so much with the idea of selling players like. Stewart, Gooch, Pritchard - even bloody Paddy Mcnair a few years back. Every single time someone goes for a fee there's a complete meltdown.

Is it the same at other clubs? Or was the fact we have been so shit at selling players for a profit for so long means that we struggle to cope more than most?

There isn't a single championship team that won't have sold one of their top players this summer. In fact, I doubt there's more then a handful in the world that won't be losing someone to a bigger team in the next 12 months.

I have been critical of the model because of the "some" of the players that have come in. Hopefully the money brought in will mean the caliber of the new young signings is better and the model continues to roll on with a constant improvement.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose one or two others to Ipswich. Clarke will be putting in a good word and we'll be desperate for the money going by the amount we're receiving for this.
