This Is Wearside - Poppy Day Display

Read some canny harsh comments on SO37 on the socials.

The flags in place yesterday were the ones created through SO37. It said on the new groups’ Facebook page that they weren’t going to do one. Then there was one. It was just the same as the ones put in place by SO37.
Matter of time before someone gets jealous of the new group and accuses them of all sorts as well unfortunately.

Seems like they pulled something together well yesterday despite a lack of time/funds. Wonder if we can do a whipround for a Jobe or Rigg banner on here?

Once they start the donation page i will contribute as they're doing the lasses aswell

Rigg banner first i hope

i don’t use Facebook so I believed there was nothing on due to the post on here.

Was a lush surprise seeing the surfer come out when we were stood in the south stand before kick off. The lads did really well!
The surfer is absolutely class like. Well done all involved in it's creation and unfurling.

They're trying to raise funds to do a display for remembrance day against Coventry. Don't know if it's been highlighted elsewhere but let's give them our support and donate no matter how little it is. Be interesting to see how they top the huge poppy display by so37

Just bring the o and f together from gofundme and the site will be there

They should really do a DD option, I'm pretty sure other display organisers do this across a load of different clubs.

I'm sure it's only around £2 a month and it saves having to continuously come across like you are asking for dosh for displays in the public domain.

Even if they managed a thousand subscribers out of 35K season ticket holders, it's still money into the pot to help and 24K annually.

🌹 PSA: Remembrance Day! 🌹

Dear Sunderland AFC Fans,

As we prepare for the match against Coventry on 9th November, we're planning something truly special—a Remembrance Day display that honours the memory of those who served and sacrificed. This will be our second major display, and we want to make it powerful, respectful, and unforgettable.

But we can't do it without YOU. 🙏

We need your help to raise £3,500 to cover the cost of materials and make this vision a reality. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference and helps us build a display that represents our shared pride and passion.

🌍 Why Your Support Matters:

* Transparency: We promise to be open about every penny we receive and spend. The funds raised will go directly to the materials needed for this display, future displays and maintenance/repairs.

* Sustainability: We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact by reusing materials from previous displays and avoiding single-use plastics. Your support helps us be responsible stewards of our planet while celebrating our club’s traditions.

* Trust: This is more than a display—it’s a statement of who we are as a community. Your trust and support are what make these projects possible, and we’re grateful for every bit of it.

🤝 Join Us in Making This Happen!

Let’s come together and show the world what the Sunderland AFC community is all about. Every donation counts, every share helps, and together, we can create something truly special.

Donate now and help us bring this powerful display to life!
Thank you for your generosity and belief in our vision. Together, we will create something that makes us all proud.

Ha'way the Lads!

Would mods not merge this and pin this if possible

As mentioned on another thread, Can you not try and generate fans to be part of a DD scheme? Clubs do membership options starting at £2 a month and would significantly help you create displays.

From experience, some fans get sick of asking to donate per display whereas a £2 DD donation ultimately goes unnoticed over the course of a month.

It would also make your job far easier by being able to focus on displays than looking to collect cash each time prior to the event.

This.

There's been some very impressive SAFC displays.

Won't be long until these are chased from doing this by people wrongly calling them thieves for daring to ask for contributions.

I agree but not sure it would make a difference with a minority of our support. There's numerous on twitter shouted for itemised receipts to account for every penny of what SO37 did.

I've already seen one tweet reply to the new group from one of the accusers saying "open book accounting and proof of receipts and you won't get any problem from me". The lad in question doesn't even contribute.
