This Is Wearside - Poppy Day Display

The club did too much to make life hard for SO37. I won’t personally support this new lot as they seem to be in the pocket of the club.

Let’s not forget that it was while SO37 were in the stadium that the BCB fiasco was discovered.

They are also the ones that alerted the club to a very near miny disaster when they put netting over 100s of seats that had been sold. The club removed the netting the night before the game otherwise it would have been chaos trying to rehouse 100s of fans in a sold out stadium.

I'm still convinced that it went against the agreed policing and safety certificate, otherwise why would the netting have been there in the first place ?

Club is ran by absolute idiots

just a bump and point out post 316 for the link to donate.

A new thread with a clear link and stickied would help mind. (oops, now stickied).

also suggesting that the no comments be implicated

This, and I used to help whenever I could with displays. KLD and his Saudi love in finished it for me. Each to their own though, so good luck .

I always enjoyed the displays from SO37 but did (and do still) find an element of their support a bit “gammony” and playing at being “ultras”.

Lots on here walking a moral tightrope today having championed the singing of “10 German Bombers” during the World Cup and now discouraging people from helping create a Remembrance Day display. 🤷‍♂️

Did you serve in the military smug?

I'm glad I'm ruled out of bombers song as I didn't partake in WC threads as detest Internationals. As said, good luck , and the remembrance displays were fantastic, and I have a very personal reason to enjoy them, and will always wear my poppy with pride. Even if some quarters of society frown on it. Just not direct to me please .

It was one of the fellas on here from so37 who got it sorted. He posted a picture of the segregation he took whilst they were sorting out the display, and I mentioned that my seat was covered up by the netting. I think he contacted the club, and they took it down day of the match. The whole derby match was a shambles like. Imagine we'd turned up with no seat to sit on. On a side note, I would've loved the planned big sportswashing display to have happened , but no way was kld gonna let that happen.

I was a volunteer with SO37 from beginning to end and know some of the little finicky things that were used as obstacles, it seemed a vendetta at times.
The new groups statement on transparency did stick a bit in my craw. It is almost like saying 'it does not matter what went on before, it will not happen on our watch'

Can we not get a banner made up for remembrance day that can be reused every year?

Would be much more beneficial, more sustainable and allow fundraising to go on new things and other longer lasting stuff.
I would imagine the cost would be massive if it's to be as big as our last displays.

Doesn't need to be that big. Could do a smaller banner and have a section with a card display or something maybe.

People obviously don't mind donating towards it like so it's all good really

That new CEO fella needs to be involved in this and oversee some of the decisions the Safety Officer is making. He seems to be getting a lot of stuff right on his watch so far so his involvement can only be a positive thing.
I think the displays are great but there’s definitely something not right behind the scenes when you look at what other clubs are doing. I’m not saying the club or SO37 were at fault but there clearly was a breakdown in relationship and what can / can’t be done.
There’s a fine balance between doing what the safety officer advises and getting the fan experience right and the CEO is the person who needs to bridge that gap.

my German half of the family find it rather amusing England fans are still singing about something almost 80 years ago.

Remember before the 1990 semi Bild ran all the English newspapers on their front page: 'You guys still going on about the war?'

Even my grandad who served in the DLI found it a bit bemusing - and he married a german.
