Do something yourself.
Whilst it's positive they're getting involved, if they want to be taken seriously and ensure they're well received, they'll have to start using a stencil or projector to make sure the font size is the same and correctly aligned.
Which is fine, but many don't which is why to help improve the atmosphere and visuals, groups are doing things like this.

Was talking about that flag the other day, was class....buy like you say it's all now irrelevant as the mags did indeed invest big flags, but only recently though, another thing Ashley held them back on.That was my mate from work's flag. He bought the material for £130 IIRC and got his aunty sew it together to be like the massive flags they had in Italy. I didn't go to home games with him, only aways so I wasn't involved that night.
We took it through St James park 11 days later. It was in a massive hold all and the coppers asked about it at the turnstiles. They said we could take it in but not get it out. Late in the 2nd half I said fuck this let's unfurl it. We managed to collect it afterwards and made our way out at the end. We got pulled by the same coppers
They weren't too bad really and we made our way back to Sunderland.
But but the mags invented big flags...
By the time of the FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough there was about half a dozen big flags going around the ground.
The next season the mags had a big flag and with the Keegan bandwagon in full swing they invented big crowds, big flags and everything...

Exactly. You have to ‘work with the club’ to do anything. SO37 ‘worked with the club’ and anyone moving forwards will need to ‘work with the club’. People just want to have a dig at anything and everything.
This board never ceases to amaze me how much it tries to divide our own fans.

It’s all about their new immoral, horrendous owners wanting to curry favour with their grovelling fan base by giving Wor Flags tens of thousands of pounds to buy product to enable ground-wide displays which have even extended to their presence at Sam Fender concerts, that artist being the ultimate plastic Mag who had no previous real interest in football whatsoever before the Saudi state took over NUFC.
Those flags at the SAFC women’s game look embarrassing if well intentioned and I hope that type of banner is allowed nowhere near the SOL. The ultimate producer of a good atmosphere at any football ground is a good, passionate team on the pitch, something we currently lack.

Any group, including SO37, have to 'work with the club'. How do people think the original Sheff Wed display got off the ground? In fact iirc it was the club who actually designed the Cat's eyes. And it's absolutely fair enough that the club is involved and has a say imo, what if they were to display something grossly offensive? The club are the ones who would kop the fine and deal with the PR fallout.
Not excusing the way the club treated SO37, although I think there were faults from both sides.
This new group hasn't actually launched anything yet, people are criticising based on flags that don't actually have anything to do with them and a tweet from a blogger who isn't actually involved.

Completely agree, although if I was being critical I don't think this "soft launch" was a good idea. Firstly, it's led to the tweet going out with the "working with the club" wording. The first thing put out there should have been from the group (a simple who they are, why they got involved and what they hope to achieve), that could have summarised how they'll need to work alongside safc in some aspects but could also have highlighted their independence.
Maybe a bit more controversially (attaches tin hat), I don't think it was a good idea for the first people see/ hear of the group to be at a women's game. Absolutely nowt against flags etc at the lasses games, but you've got to think about how it will be perceived. Not many are bothered about the lasses team, hence the attendances. The risk is that a lot will immediately think "I don't want my money to go towards banners at games I'm not arsed about". Again, better communication could have highlighted that people will be able to donate to things that interest them. Rightly or wrongly you can almost guarantee some will immediately have a negative opinion because of the first banners being for the lasses team. Start with the last home game or whatever, then do flags and banners for the mens, women's, u21s etc afterwards. I'm probably being overly critical though

I get that, but equally if they want the group to be successful they've got to make sure they engage people in the right way, especially as they're going to be asking people to donate money to them. The very nature of groups like that is that they need to be good on social media etc and they need to engage the fan base, so getting the "launch" right is an obvious thing to nail

Aye true. But I think any new group are going to have teething problems.
They probably just thought it would be easier giving it a bash with no pressure at the lasses match, compared to their first home game with 40 thousand people.

Aye that's probably a fair point! I suppose in a way I'm just thinking it might make quite a large number think "oh god, this lot will be soft as shite/ woke as fuck/ definitely wont do anything even slightly controversial and will therefore be club shills". There's a part of me that thinks people of that opinion shouldn't be listened to, but equally it's probably a sizable chunk of people they'll be asking for donations and I just feel it's something they could have moved into doing once they've got people behind them. But aye, fair point, I'm being too critical. Hopefully it works out for them because I always loved seeing the ground with the flags etc out, certainly made it feel more of an experience for the bairn and god knows we need something to get him hooked!
If Spirit Of 37 don't know anything about this group, I wonder why they didn't look to help out previously. Perhaps they did.
I recall in the RAWA minutes that the club promised to re-engage with Spirit of 37, I assume that didn't happen unless 37 simply called it a day before they had an opportunity and therefore give it a pass.

It didn't which was very poor from the club. I'm not sure on timescales but since that promise of a meeting SO37 then actively criticised and insulted KLD and Speakman via their twitter account which meant that even if (it's a big if) the club were planning to meet with SO37 it likely muddied all waters and that relationship died a death anyway. It's a shame because SO37 did some great work but probably lessons to be learned for the club and any new start up fan groups from this particular episode.

As far as I know this group is two people strong and one of those worked in the background with SO37 so technically "they" did help out
