i would see how Prior gets on in this innings. That said, including Bairstow at Perth with Johnson rifling them in half way down could be suicide.

Dont think theres much call for a spinner at Perth. Pepper them with aggressive stuff and make the batting line up sturdier.

Might sound mad the way he has performed for England over the past 6 years but Swann place in the side must be doubtfull, either they go for Monty or they play 4 seamers and no spinner.

Cook, Carberry, Root, Pietersen, Bell, Stokes, Prior, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Anderson.

Would be madness to drop stokes for ballance IMO

Has to be Cook, Carberry, Bell, Pietersen, Root, Stokes, Prior, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Anderson.

Bat deep, reverse swing coming into play at Perth a lot more isn't it?

after root bats well at 3 and bell bats well at 5 why would you swap them?

I wasn't suggesting the batting order marra, merely the team. I'd stick with Root at 3 and Bell at 5.

Because Bell is our best player, and a natural 3. And got stranded with the tail in the first innings

aye he got 70 odd from 5. maybe batting 3 he would have got out before 10. i would be tempted to move him above KP but i doubt that will happen. i get that he should bat higher but root, as a natural opener is better suited to the 3 than bell, especially since our 3 usually comes on within an over or 2 atm.

I can see both sides to be honest

I would have gone bell, and still would, but can see your point too

Finn or Rankin have to play. Send one of them out at Perth and tell them to bounce the fuck out of the Aussies. Let Anderson, Broad and Stokes bowl with control and Finn or Rankin just pepper them. Time to fight fire with fire and not give them an easy ride

If you have Stokes why do you need four extra seamers? Forget about the wicket, Bresnan is a way better bowler (and bat) than the beanpoles. They got smashed by B sides all tour and would do again even if the pitch is a trampoline.
