Guess we will have to agree to disagree mate, as that’s my point too, thought 58 for 0 after 25 overs was getting the balance wrong, and only Sibley getting out alllowed us to get them in tonight,
Sibley was always going to get out or get on, he wasn’t going to play like that until close of play.

He was never going to score as quickly as Root ,with the lead we had both him and Burns should have looked to rotate the strike more we were 200 ahead and the only outcome was us winning or them drawing ,so should have looked to gave us more time.

Of course they is a time to dig in like on the first day when we were 4 down cheaply.

200 ahead after the first innings is not the time to dig in imo, it’s the time to push on sensibly imo

We did push on sensibly at the right time hence we finished up 400 ahead and able to declare and knock 2 over tonight.

Seriously I have no idea what you’re arguing about. Sibley can get on with things as he’s shown in domestic cricket, he was going to get on or get out, the latter happened.

As I said earlier even with benefit of hindsight you still can’t just hold hands up and give the openers credit. I find that very strange personally.

Its funny how people look at things as reading your posts you were happy been 350 ahead by close of play.

Yet I wanted them to push on quickly get them in tonight to us more time, and it was me who said they would get 400 after one of the openers got out as they were batting too slowly, which is exactly what happened.

Yet you amazingly claiming you were right!

Nowt as funny as folk!

I would have been happy with that and even 350 would’ve been as a result of pushing on, we pushed on even more than I hoped and that was down to the foundations laid by Sibley and Burns.

I didn’t at time and still don’t get the Criticism that come their way on this thread.

Well done the openers, well done Root and
well done Broad. Great day.

Its really straightforward as far as I am concerned ,knew the forecast so wanted them into tonight, the lads on sky were saying that, so were plenty on here and didn’t think we would get to that point when the openers were in, you were happy been 350 lead over night, I wasn’t and think Root got us to a position where we could do that.

It’s no mystery mate just a difference of opinion and philosophy on how the game should be played from certain positions.

I know where you coming from totally see your point and respect it, just disagree with it👍

Declaration was a bit late again. Should have had 10-12 at them and have them 3-4 down now. Probably won’t matter, but same as the second test it could end up biting us if the weather takes too much out of the game

Looking at the forecast there won’t be any play at all today.

Flithy morning, was up with the boy at 5.15am and it was raining, still raining now.

The garden, which I expect has much similar drainage system to Old Trafford, is flooded.

More updates as we get them.
