Things that annoy you about referees

The "best" games is completely opinion based though, isnt it? Which is a bigger game? Man Utd v Nottm Forest, Villa v West Ham or Everton v Brighton?

It's completely unfair that some teams have the more competent refs more than others. Why should they have that advantage?

Why should some teams be punished by being allocated the ones who lose control of a game by trying not to make any decisions in the first half and ending up dishing out loads of yellows in the 2nd half, any more than any other team?

There's also just nothing anyone can do about it either - it's not like you can invest heavily in "being involved in bigger games in the league" like you can in say a goal scorer or a coach who is good at organising defences etc etc

Random allocation completely removes it as a factor. It's madness that it isn't already the case IMHO.
Completely agree, I think it would also quell conceptions of certain refs being before/against certain sides if they weren’t reffing them every other week thinking back to see how vividly you can remember images of Mike Riley or Howard Webb pointing for a home penalty at Old Trafford or every time there’s something contentious between the big sides now and Michael Oliver’s face pops up

My point is that, to other teams, us against the mags is the “meaningless mid table game betweeen 13th and 14th” (12th and 14th as things stand, admittedly, but you get the idea)

If we know we’re going to get Gillet about 3 or 4 times a season or whatever it is, then at least we’d be happy knowing that everyone else is subject to him too. As things stand, Leeds, Spurs and Wolves have had him in charge 4 times this season, whereas some teams have never had to put up with him - how can that be fair?
I think everyone knows how big the Tyne-Wear derby is. Hence we got the best referee. There has to be an incentive too. If you ref well you should get the best games.

The fact that as soon as they go to that screen,a decision is gonna be overturned. Do they never stick with their decision?
They want the referee to still have overall control.

But those in the TV room have seen 20 different angles. Just tell them you've fucked up, we've corrected it, get on with the game and save a few minutes of players / fans getting pissed off with the whole process.

The issue with the screen is they should grow a pair and back themselves more. If I was the referee I’d want to see it again if it was marginal. But if it’s “clear and obvious” then don’t waste any time. The other night I’d be demanding to see on the screen if I was the ref.
