There’s no reason a so called Top ref shouldn’t be doing their fare share of Burnley v Fulham type fixtures and equally anyone deemed good enough to be a premier league referee should get a go at the top of table clashes

That’s like saying a player good enough for Burnley is good enough for Man City because they’re in the same league.

I can see your point, but if your not certain you shouldn't be giving it in my opinion..

It's a contact sport that in it's nature is fast paced and flows end to end .. referees need to respect that end encourage players to get on with the game ..stop blowing every two seconds for nothing fouls, and then stopping the game for 2 or 3 minutes to have a chat with players.

If it looks soft then just wave play on and shout at the diving little twat to get on with the game

There are very few things a offical can be 100% certain of on a footy field when it comes to fouls, handballs etc. If an official is more or less certain of something but has a minute doubt you reckon he shouldn't give it?

Of course it isn't. The officials are meant to be impartial and making the game "fair" for everyone.

Man City's job isn't to assemble a squad that is "fair" to the rest of the league.

All games should be randomly allocated from a group of refs the league has deemed good enough to referee the games.

How many times do fans complain that refs should only give pens if they're absolutely certain yet you think think if they have any doubt they should just book the player who's appealed?

Nah not at all imo, why should bigger teams Get perceived higher quality refs, reward high performing refs with cup finals etc by all means however Manchester City v Chelsea is worth exactly the same amount of points as Bournemouth v Everton so shouldn’t be treated differently with refereeing appointments imo

No but they should use the same amount of certainty across the entire pitch

I disagree with that. That reasoning is why get an endless stream of stoppages for "soft" fouls which could easily just not be given and let the game flow. It's a contact sport. Players are allowed to touch their opponent, not every contact is a foul.

Look at the protection that keepers and defenders get in thier own box , relative to what it takes a ref to blow for a penna. It's two entirely different thresholds

Shirt pulling is cheating and should be punished as such. The decline of the dribbler is already a contributing factor to seeing less entertainers. It’s hard to dribble with a 13stone man hanging off your shirt.

It's utter madness that there isn't a timer for getting the ball back in play. I just don't see why it hasn't happened yet and it would be so easy to implement.

Some PL referees are better than other PL referees. The best players play for the best clubs. The best managers manage the best clubs. And the best referee do the best games.

The "best" games is completely opinion based though, isnt it? Which is a bigger game? Man Utd v Nottm Forest, Villa v West Ham or Everton v Brighton?

It's completely unfair that some teams have the more competent refs more than others. Why should they have that advantage?

Why should some teams be punished by being allocated the ones who lose control of a game by trying not to make any decisions in the first half and ending up dishing out loads of yellows in the 2nd half, any more than any other team?

There's also just nothing anyone can do about it either - it's not like you can invest heavily in "being involved in bigger games in the league" like you can in say a goal scorer or a coach who is good at organising defences etc etc

Random allocation completely removes it as a factor. It's madness that it isn't already the case IMHO.

Trying to imagine your face when Jarred Gillet gives the Mags an incorrect last minute penalty against us whilst World Cup referee Anthony Taylor is refereeing a meaningless mid table game between 13th and 14th. I want the best referee available refereeing the game.

My point is that, to other teams, us against the mags is the “meaningless mid table game betweeen 13th and 14th” (12th and 14th as things stand, admittedly, but you get the idea)

If we know we’re going to get Gillet about 3 or 4 times a season or whatever it is, then at least we’d be happy knowing that everyone else is subject to him too. As things stand, Leeds, Spurs and Wolves have had him in charge 4 times this season, whereas some teams have never had to put up with him - how can that be fair?

Against Villa they had the ball out play for 2 minutes in stoppage time and he still blew right on 97 mins.
