It is to be expected. We are a business with a helluva lot going out compared to what is coming in. However the new owners will have known from day 1 this would be the case and all plans would have built in substantial initial cash flow problems while we have such big earners on the books.
The anticipated departure of ndog will have an influence on it i would assume

The most interesting detail in the article is the suggestion he wants the money to agree settlements with existing players.

It may be that he's decided to pay-off the likes of Rodwell. Take a financial write-down in order for us to finally move on and sign some other players.

Will be financially messy - and a far cry from: it'll be easy to sell em and/or we'll just kick em out without paying anything. But it may be the only way to finally close the door on a miserable chapter in our clubs history.

Aye. Great that he is open but tabloids and shit press can twist anything he says. You can tell when he answers he slows it down to think of the best way to say it to protect him from stories like this.

It's really not a nonsense story though is it. It just a quick update on Sunderland for non-Sunderland following readers who don't follow every little titbit like we do. It's more a 'non-story' for us than anything scurrilous.

Why do we see it as an attack?

If it was that much of a nothing story, then why bother? We’re not in the top leagues any more.

Explanation given on RR. It's a contingency plan if discussions with people we owe money to don't go well.

The running costs are still horrendous despite having only 18/19 pro's on books.

Oviedo on same wedge as JR and Catts so there's 120k p.w. minimum going out.
Kone, Djli,Ndong McGeady and Khazri on 30k p.w.? Running total now 270k pw.
Matthews, Love, Paddy, McManaman on 15-20k pw so running total now 330k minimum.
Then add Asoro, Maja, E Robson, Ruiter, Embleton, Gooch, Honeymanand were up to 400k pw minimum.
It's frightening man.
20m minimum pa wage outgoing in league 1.

It was a tiny piece that gave an overview of almost two months worth of developments - it was padded out by explaining Short had paid off the debt. There was also a bit about Villa wrapped up at the end.

You can't win. People whinge about us not being covered, when we do get covered they whinge about being attacked. We're still a big club and neutrals are more interested in us than 90% of the football league.

So the equivalent of sticking a big purchase on your credit card knowing that you’re due a bonus or payment for a big job in the next few months

This, until we can get rid of these high wage earners then we are Like a massive money pit.

Once they go we will be fine but in the meantime the new owner might need a loan until transfer fees start coming in
