The Staircase

She never fell like, she was f***ing mangled, he blatantly beat fuck out of her!
So she was the ONLY case of blunt force trauma in hundreds previously that suffered no fracturing of the skull? The only thing that points to her being bashed was how it initially looked. None of the forensic evidence backed it up.

Honestly baffled by it. He was a bit of a creep, like. Never seen such a gory scene from a 'fall' but then the injuries just weren't consistent with being bludgeoned, either.
He was/is just achingly middle-class. I quite liked him but I can definitely see how people could think he’s weird.

I remember this case on an episode of American Justice.
Thought he was guilty as sin. Didn’t he off his ex the exact same way?
Weird stuff about a conjoined / adoptive family, some of which support him, others hate him?

And he was rumbled being into rough gay porn?

But when they inteviewed him in the nick he likes it in there. Maybe all his rough gay fantasies are enacted on a nightly basis?

Just very weird.

He was released.

I started watching Making a Murderer last night and it's boring af compared to this. I'm 4 episodes in and it's mostly just filler. They could have condensed the whole thing into 1 episode.

The Staircase was much better imo like. I haven't watched 'The Keepers' yet (same makers) but I might just ditch this MaM shite and start watching that.

Both lasses were found at the bottom of a staircase dead. The first woman, his neighbours wife and mother of his adopted kids, died from an anurism according to the Germans but the DA tried to dispute that in this case and say it was murder.

It's either one big coincidence or he'd found a way to kill people and get away with it by doing it on a staircae and calling it a "fall".

Unless he confesses on his deathbed we'll never know.

Making a Murderer was shit imo. Just didn't find that interesting at all. If you'd listened to that first series of Serial and then watched MAM you'd struggle to get into it I reckon, it's not even in the same league.

The Keepers was just depressing. Good, but bleak.

Struggling to see what his sexuality has to do with anything. Unless his fantasy was to bray old lasses all over at the bottom of staircases.

The theory was his Mrs had found out he was gay, they'd argued, then he battered her with a blunt object. All speculation of course. It also went against his defense that they had a "perfect marriage".

The judge even agreed before the 2nd trial (which never happened) that the gay stuff on his computer can't be used in trial because it taints his image. "He looked at HARDCORE GAY PORN! Lock him up!".

Those were my thoughts, I couldn't believe all the blood from falling down the stairs and those wounds man

But if you ever watch MMA or boxing those cuts to the head bleed like fuck and I thought perhaps she had old papery skin that split easy, the evidence that never had there been a blunt force trauma autopsy without skull fractures was compelling though.

I think the most profound bit was where he said he was sad that the truth didn't matter anymore, it was about his defence beating their prosecution and that is how it played out, no one seemed to care about the truth, they played dirty tricks against each other in order to get the win, not to get to the truth, same thing happens in making a murderer imo.

I found it all a bit odd and felt as if a lot of the story wasn't shown or told.

Interesting watch but I wouldnt say it was anywhere near as gripping as Making A Murderer.

Agree , just watching the final episode now and I skipped a few as lost interest - too drawn out , similar to season 2 of making of a murderer

Definitely not in the same league as MaM in my opinion. But you got the impression late on in the series that, like MaM, a lot of stuff that possibly wasn’t in his favour, didn’t make the editors cut. Somehow I completely missed the owl theory. Where did that come in ???

Was it in the series though ? I keep reading about it now, but genuinely didn’t hear it and I had thought I wa spaying attention

Will have a butchers now - cheers for the link

I skipped a couple of episodes between the original verdict and the last one so it might have been mentioned then ?

I watched the original docco (over 10 years ago i reckon) is it worth watching for the few extra episodes netflix has added on?

he was guilty as fuck for me (both times).
