Hmm, who brought this in to stop attacks like the one in Manchester? A certain Mars May I believe...wonder how thats working out for her.

Hope the press pick up on this one.

Nothing can work 100% of the time but what about the other 14 conspiracies it may have stopped.
I will happily give up a slice of my freedoms if it helps to prevent 8yr old kids being slaughtered.
I get that it's nigh on impossible to stop the one man extremist who goes and does something but an organised group, haway, surely this charter should have stopped the likes of this...IF that is what it was designed to do which I very much doubt it. Basically we've lost some of our privacy rights and it hasn't made a jot of difference.

What rights have you lost. Do you honestly believe there is someone checking your emails etc .
The police need every tool in the bag to keep us safe and you better get used to further erosions of your privacy as we are living in an extremely dangerous times.

hope you aint suggesting the Charter is a chocolate fireguard;)
Dont know mesell and too late to research it but did the charter allow checking of mobile calls/texts of the attackers? If so it has done some good as allows those who have given assistance and remain to plan further attacks to be traced and taken out of circulation

It's not about checking my emails to see who I've been messaging, it's about data collection so the propaganda that's spouted on a daily basis can be manipulated to suit the mood of the country.
If this was purely about stopping terrorism why haven't we heard about its success? Why aren't we hearing of foiled plots on a regular basis?

14 foiled plots, do you not watch the news.

I ask you again. How has this charter effected you or anyone you know?

I love how the second guessers come out and criticise the authorities for not preventing attacks then in the next breath complain about erosion of privacy

How many before the charter was introduced? Is this 14 an increase in foiled plots or the norm? Is it because there's more plots? How many of the 14 have been foiled because of the charter?

The erosion of privacy doesn't mean you're going to get a knock on the door off plod telling you to stop watching dwarf porn you know.

As I've already said, it's about data collection so the government can continue to manipulate even more than they were doing already.

well enough trained for it for sure!
Was it not mooted when Cameron announced a big recruitment drive a while back that there were concerns about getting enough people through the process - corners were being cut in terms of standards in training?

I thought the snoopers charter was stopped by the EU who ruled the indiscriminate collection of data to be against rules back in December -
I'd have assumed that sort of stuff is positive PR, a paper exercise - that in realistic terms the likes of every WhatsApp message is still there on some GCHQ server...

Not cutting the police budget might help more
The Government really havr gone too far on the reduction of officers currently employed to protect us. I appreciate that cuts were needed but the levels are now dangerously low whilst the demands are ever increasing.

Well I am positive the law was only to created to cover things they were already doing, but not sure May can take the blame for GCHQ long term procedures, if the public law allowing it hasn't gone through...and I ain't no May fan.

spent a load on training facilities over West Cumbria since I was working there over 2 years ago. Used to have a meal/beer with a firearms instructor in my digs quite regular and he was content to fail/defer any that didnt meet standards. He was ex-forces as were most of the Instructors. Never seemed to be a shortage on site when I was there, quite the opposite in fact so I got well used to saying good morning to an officer with a machine gun
