I thought it was utter trash and the final straw with me for Stephen King. He's completely lost the spark yet still pumps out subpar shite. He seems to think he's a crime writer these days, too, for some reason.Outsider by Stephen King
Read a load of Stephen King when I was a teen and I return to him now and again. This started off well, I wasn’t impressed with where it was heading at one point, but in the end overall it was OK.

What recent books?Persepolis rising by James s a Corey. Book 7 of the expanse. Started slowly and I didn't find it engaging. However it really got going and the last quarter was tremendous. More enjoyable than the recent books
Sorry, didn't phrase it very well. I meant the previous expanse books. I feel like 7 has given it a nice kick-start and new direction for the seriesWhat recent books?
love the expanse series. They usually start pretty slowly but as you say ramp up at the end.

I read the first one. It was canny, but not upto the first law books. Is it worth continuing?Have you read the Shattered Sea trilogy by Abercrombie yet? It's well up to his usual standard.

In 1999?The spark went out of Stephen King, the day that minivan hit him like. Absolutely no coincidence that he hasn't bashed out a decent book since that day...
I'd read that. Stoner was just superb.Butcher's Crossing by John Williams 9/10
From the author of Stoner. This, for me, is an even better book. A Harvard dropout goes to the Wild West to find himself. Ends up funding a hunting expedition in search of one of the last great herds of buffalo. Strong parallels with Cormac McCarthy.

Brilliant, I was worried we'd seen the end of my favourite ever mass murderer. I'd heard the next one was about the industrialisation of aduaHopefully Joe is busy working on Logen's return to the North.
