Casino Royale - do i need to say who by?
Bounce - Matthew Syed. Puts forward the view, backed up with evidence, that elite athletes get to the top due to practice and not with any inate skill.
The Sinking of The Prince of Wales & Repulse - Martin Middlebrook and Patrick Mahoney. Self-explanatory really.

What do you think about Casino Royale?

I've read all of the Bond books and much prefer them to the films. (Dalton and Craig excepted)

Only 30 pages in. Just to the point where Bond meets Mathis in his hotel room to find its being bugged by some German couple. If I’m honest its nowt like the Daniel Craig or David Niven films!

The only other Bond book I’ve read is From Russia With Love. I enjoyed that, even though the film is one of my favourite Bonds.

I've just finished Wild Tales by Graham Nash. It's a very detailed story of his life, loves and music. If you like Crosby Stills Nash and Young you'll love this book.
At first I kept putting it down cos he comes across as being up his own arse and he probably is as in his words The Hollies and CSN Y are the best thing since sliced bread.
However, I learnt a lot about him that I didn't know and he's been with some famous ladies in his time. As the book goes on I warmed to him and his tales of Crosby's drug antics are an eyeopener and it seems he never really got on with Neil Young.
8/10.

Always comes across like that to me in interviews, but I'll definitely give it a check if only to read about Crosby and his infamous drug intake:rolleyes:

The Stone Raft by Jose Saramago 9/10
The Iberian Peninsula breaks off from Europe and drifts out into the Atlantic, causing social and political mayhem. I'm a big fan of Saramago (I visited his house in Lanzarote a couple of years ago, which has been preserved exactly as it was when he died in 2010), and this is up there with his best. Docked a point for not being The Elephant's Journey, which is still my favourite.

Interesting and thought provoking. 8/10

I downloaded that as an audiobook the other week, haven't started it yet.

I just finished "Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland" by Christopher Browning on the basis of Jordan Peterson recommending it in one of his youtube clips.

8/10 for me, pretty grim reading and frightening that it seems to indicate that almost every one of us is capable of doing some pretty horrific shit.

I bought it off the back of the C4 interview he did - I thought he was interesting enough to want to read more of what he said. Is it him reading the audiobook? :D

I'm glad I bought and read it like.

Swan Song - Robert McCammon 7/10

In a similar vein to Stephen King's The Stand, a post apocalyptic yarn with some interesting characters and a smattering of supernatural wonkyness. A little out there at times, and the end, reminiscent of a lot of King's works, who the author seems heavily influenced by, is bloody silly, and knocks a point or two off the score. Still, a decent enough read, kept me entertained.

Just started Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance. Looking forward to reading this one.

I may have read that book about 2-ish years ago. It sounds familiar.
