The Rolling Stones

Great recorded songs
Live they always seemed to be all playing a different song while mick jumped around like the mad kid at a 10th birthday party .
Never seen them live so can only go off clips obviously but I’ve always found them a bit iffy live when I’ve listened to them or watched them tbh, sometimes decent and sometimes out of tune and not good. Bizarrely there seems to be a myth that The Beatles were crap live which is the biggest myth in music. There’s a video of the NME Awards 1965 on YouTube and The Beatles blew all the other big bands of the time off the stage that day, and when you listen to how good they were on the rooftop it’s mental people hold that view.

Agree about Some Girls being the last great Stones album, and that their peak was 68-72.

As soon as they turned into doing 'rock' songs it was all over. Basically when brian jones died. Arguably Best band on planet earth up to that point.

The lack of live Beatles from their golden period is a shame but given their apprenticeship in the early days they knew what a gig was .

Still plenty footage about tbf. The audio from their Hamburg days is always interesting and there’s even a clip of them playing The Cavern where they sound good.

Two awful examples of their work followed by one of their best from the OP. Obviously a Beatles fan trying to denigrate the Stones to a potential younger audience.
Late 60s-Early 70s albums and 60s singles are obviously their finest hours. Since the late 70s they’ve probably released a couple of hours of stuff in total that gets anywhere near the prime years.
Which is still more than many muster in their entire careers.

Aye Some Girls was their last decent album and was 48 years ago.
What an album though.
