The ref (see PGMOL thread)

Disgraceful performance. But he got his face on tv. Yellow cards were soft well unless you had a Boro shirt on.

1st goal was scored by a player that should have been sent off if yellow cards were easy to get.

3rd goal was offside.

Sunderland 6 yellows Boro 2 with barely any poor challenges all game.

Boro love a roll around on the floor.
You forgot the stone cold penalty on Crooks in the first half. 2 hands straight in his back by Neil.

Yes I agree on that but surely the ref should have used common sense.
But do you admit that in a high stakes game in front of 40,000+ people that Neil was full of adrenaline and in those circumstances the ref should say to himself, had on here I can't over react
Yes i agree, referees should always overlook the rules so as not to upset the home support - i mean you only have to look at how he’s upset all the cry babies on this thread because of that nasty selfish man applying the rules of the game

No we don't agree.
He didn't make a mistake in giving DN a second yellow. It is one of the few things he got right.

He was absolutely shite, but that decision was correct. That's what makes it f***ing worse for all of us. He got nearly everything else wrong.

Greenwood should have been gone before he scored.
Luke was lucky not to give a pen away for the push in the back.
And on, and on, on for, for both sides. He was shit. There was so much he got wrong.

But the decision that ruined the game, he got right.

Yeah - we don’t agree then lol. I think you are wrong. Fair enough tho mate!

There are ways of putting your point across, but coming on here and calling people cry babies is not one of them.
Take your head for a shite, and don't forget to wipe your mouth afterwards.

I work with Boro fans and you're coming across like a right tosser on here and it doesn't represent your fanbase or the people of Teesside at all. Wind your neck in.

So you’d have had no complaints if Jones and Coburn had been sent off?
Well Jones and Coburn didn’t commit sending off offences. Jones had his foot trodden on, it was very clear in the replays and even the commentators pointed it out. It was outside the area so should have been a free kick to Middlesbrough. Ref got that totally wrong in dishing out a yellow to Jones there. Coburn and Ballard correctly got yellows each for the shoving match they had after the collision prior to that. I’ve watched that incident over and over and there’s no elbow to the head of Ballard, or a head butt afterwards as some claim. If anyone can provide a photograph to prove otherwise please do

He booked a player for elbowing when that should have been an automatic red.

Log off you idiot.

Nope, you’re wrong again kidda.

I didn’t notice it live. Definitely a red card though. Knew it was something bad as Ballard doesn’t easily lose control like that.
Aye I saw it as wasn’t sitting too far away. Straight red and given the antics the ref encouraged we should have made a lot more of it.

Elbowing is a cowards trick.

Thankfully Ballard wasn’t seriously hurt.

A incompetent / cheating performance by the referee. Either he shouldn’t be allowed to officiate our games again.

There’s a clear elbow which is a Red Card. But okay, Yellow card for late challenge. Shoving. Second yellow card. Isiah Jones on a Yellow Card goads the crowd. That’s a second yellow card. They’re the laws of the game.

Matt Crooks accumulation?
Surrounding the referee, no YCs?

You know it. We all know it. The referee has pulled a rabbit out the hat and ruined a great game that could have gone either way 11 v 11

I'm pretty confident that refs seem to take a dim view of players marching towards them from 30 yards away gesticulating and shouting in their direction. As soon as he starts walking in his direction he's asking for trouble. He walks over like he wants to deck him. This is far more of an issue than a player already in close proximity to the ref getting frustrated and letting rip with a few frustrated expletives.

I didn't see it live but I've just watched it back on the full 90 and it's an absolute obvious red card.

He literally didn't look at the ball or challenge anywhere near it and just led with his elbow into Ballard. It's a ridiculous challenge, complete stupidity as he made it completely obvious what he was doing. Both the ref and linesman should have had a good view of it.

Instead the incompetent ref gave 2 bookings for handbags in the aftermath. f***ing useless twat.
