Grumpy Old Man

There is some decent refs about.
Bobby Madley is by far the best in this league.
And he makes mistakes. The point is he makes fewer than most, and is conspicuously even-handed.

Agree. But he was probably the last person we needed sending off. Still very naive, I think for the second we had 5 players ahead of the ball.To be honest, there should be more concern with the way sunderland completely went to bits in the second half. It was always gonna be a tough second half but I did not expect Boro to wipe the floor with us. This definitely highlights the need for a few more experienced heads in the first team.

That’s fair enough but imo I think a high majority of people on this board would have a different opinion of the same incident if a boro player done exactly the same. All I know is players in general do not get 2nd yellows for what I would describe as mild dissent.
If they did we would have 7v8 on a fairly regular basis.
I often wonder if refs should not make correct decisions to appease fans, rather than worrying about right decisions they should just make sure decisions are evened out such is the way fans look at things silly nowadays. And he makes mistakes. The point is he makes fewer than most, and is conspicuously even-handed.
Do you reckon if you went round the other teams forums they'd all say the same about Madley?
It's all about percentages and degree of mistake IMO.But he has still made a number of fuck ups right?
f***ing hell you literally defend out manHe can't just call the ref what he likes as long as he's not be over aggressive whilst doing it. The video suggests the ref was waving him away and Neil has overstepped the mark hence the card
I know I'm in the minority mate, but Neil keeps his gob shut, he doesn't get booked.Like hundreds of players do thousands times a season. The referee should have shown some common sense and had a word with him. You are in the minority on this
Also this would be my response to any player on any team booked for this
This! It needs stamping out from the top level and move the attitudes towards the way players/managers act towards officials in rugby. I've mentioned this before as it's that bad they trialled refs wearing bodycams.I coach u15s football.
This season for 3 games we haven't been able to get a ref. The culture of respect has to change.
Don't get me wrong, I was raging yesterday, but at the end of the day, it was a human making a mistake.
It doesn't help when high profile managers like Klop gowon like spoilt bairns after every mistake.
Yes your wrong because he did nothing different to almost every player out there. The amount of times I watch a game on TV and a player tells the ref or linesman to fuck off after a decision and absolutely nothing is done about it.I know I'm in the minority mate, but Neil keeps his gob shut, he doesn't get booked.
Tell me I'm wrong, and why?
It's all about percentages and degree of mistake IMO.
Good refs will get the odd few wrong but the vast majority of the big decisions right.
The more fuck ups you make it stands to reason one of those fuck ups will end up being a big decision.
Some decisions are inexplicably poor. Like Blackburn's second goal last season when the player was standing still a couple of yards offside and scores. It wasn't late movement or an on then offside debatable thing. It was a shocking decision by the linesman.
Yesterday Jack Clarke won a header and the ball came off their player for our throw. It was given a Boro throw, not sure if it was the ref or the linesman as some refs bully linesmen? It's a terrible decision. The ball changed course and slowed down. Anybody who knows anything about footy can see that immediately. They couldn't yesterday.
That innocuous incident summed up the level of referring yesterday. It was shite.
Why on these debates are good decisions not brought up which they will be plenty and it’s always examples of bad decisions. It's all about percentages and degree of mistake IMO.

youre clearly on summit sonny..Unlike you sonny, I don't feel the need to partake in drugs.
The ref you.... lolDon't be such a twat !
I bet you've said worse to your lass ,if you have one . The number of posters on here who love to jump all over a player on here is disgraceful . Must really piss you off that you have had to wait 10 games to have a reason to slay him off .
In the first half we were cruising at one stage had 64 % possession to their 36% , despite the ref letting Boro get away with foul after foul .
We fell away in the second half because we were a man short and had no defensive midfielder on the pitch . 3rd goal was a mile offside as well .
Mate, I agree the ref was shite.Yes your wrong because he did nothing different to almost every player out there. The amount of times I watch a game on TV and a player tells the ref or linesman to fuck off after a decision and absolutely nothing is done about it.
Neil was in the middle of a high pressure game and said ref that's a f***ing foul. Now if you think that's a yellow card then dear f***ing god football is finished
He didnt because it has happened literally hundreds of times before with no consequences. Consequently he had every right to expect the same result.Mate, I agree the ref was shite.
But I asked the question "If Neil had kept his gob shut, would he have been booked?"
The answer to that has to be no.
Whatever other things the ref did or didn't give, if DN says nowt, he doesn't get booked.
Shirley you can accept that.
No mate I can't accept that.He didnt because it has happened literally hundreds of times before with no consequences. Consequently he had every right to expect the same result.
He cant be blamed when a referee acts in a totally unprecedented way.
Surely you can accept that.
You are speaking with the benefit of hindsight. The ref gave him a second yellow card so you argue he was silly.Mate, I agree the ref was shite.
But I asked the question "If Neil had kept his gob shut, would he have been booked?"

If you have done the same thing in your job thousands of times and seen others do exactly the same why would you expect the consequences of what you do to change tomorrow. You wouldnt and neither would any reasonable personNo mate I can't accept that.
Neil knows the rules, was already on a yellow, which was borderline red, and should have kept his f***ing head down.
He gave the ref got an opportuniy to book him, and the ref took it.
He keeps his gob shut, he doesn't get booked.
I've repeatedly said I agree the ref was shite, and inconsistent, but he can't book DN again, if DN doesn't gob off.
