Like I say mate hard to know the answer to that question unless you are there.

On the face of it, it looks harsh.

Just making a general point professional players should not do what he did
 
I'm not the type of fan who moans about referees all the time, but that ref today looked well out of this depth. He just looked wrong from the start..I said in the first 10mins he's going make a massive mistake and send someone off or give a dodgy pen and sure enough he did...

He told both teams before the game he would use empathy with his decisions. What he should have done is got the captain and neil warned them what happened if it continued. Could tell the entire first half the ref wanted to impose himself on the game

We've had championship referees in the last three games before this on who all had very good games and their names went by totally un noticed and for some reason we end up with this antipodean ,premier league brain fart Jarrod Gillard....

Booked Neil and others for exactly the same type of fouls committed on Ballard, Clarke and Huggins by Boro players who escaped any yellows the full back in particular and just what was the reason he stood by all of the Boro players during the delay in the second half

Professional players need to act professionally it is very rare if at all that officials have to take responsibility to calm players down in other sports

As in the main most other sportsman are more professional and disciplined than footballers

Spoke to my old man after the game and he doesn’t go through I’ll health. He said on the sky coverage the ref clearly warned them before the game he wasn’t standing for any dissent, so he was warned.

Doesn’t always happen referrers should use common sense something they seem to lack week in week out the VAR decision in the Liverpool game showed that.

Feels to me like you’re making a general point to suit your narrative of defending a shit refereeing performance and decision?

Let’s take it on face value. Mowbray is telling the truth that the ref told both managers he would show empathy in today’s game when he briefed them pre match.

It seems really odd to me that he would make a point of sending a player off for using industrial language or at worst dissent, especially with a number of blatant yellow card offences going unpunished.

If that’s why Neil was sent off today, at least 2 Cardiff players should have been booked just before HT the other week for being in he Refs face.
