The plane fly past is back on...

Who should decide to cancel it though? It has lost momentum but the required amount has already been reached by people who want it to happen, how do you propose to give them their money back?
Minus the deposit which is presumably non-refundable.

Love or hate it, IMO it has to go ahead. In the grand scheme of things it will soon be forgotten. Certainly not worth people getting all upset about in on one side and others calling fellow supporters on the other!

What if the plane flies over on the 17th minute mark?!
The mags will applaud it. Marvellous.edit: make it happen Mr Keef....

I don't need to make out thats what I do! I know others do but I was just saying that so you knew where I was coming from with this idea, I have never claimed that my opinion is more valid than anyone elses, but I am not the one trying to ram my opinion down anyones throat y

Unfortunately mate, many of the people supporting the idea have.

I'm not complaining about insults, I'm just laughing at the notion that people are crying over this while the pro camp are throwing out stuff like 'simpering vaginas'. I won't lose any sleep over it and when the topic comes up with Mag mates I'll respond with something along the lines of: Maybe, but it was a few people on the internet, that's all. We'll never have Steve Wraith, you horse-punching twat.

Your last 3 lines, now that's trolling.
It was "screaming vaginas". And "wailing flangitas". Haway, do keep up.

It's true though, people will be talking about how great Sunderland fans are for raising money for charity. I can hear the sound bites now:

"They've even ruined their supporters fine reputation just to raise a bit more cash",

"Sunderland fans are going to be getting mocked for some time over this, what a sacrifice to make for Charity".

What if the nays pledge more than the ayes we call the whole thing off ?

It's not my decision to make but if you setup a fund and it raises more money from people not wanting the plane idea to go ahead I would be up for calling the whole thing off and giving the lot to charity.

It would be difficult for anyone to make that call though because people have already donated for a reason and that was for the plane.

I do find it interesting how every single person those against it have spoken to find it embarrassing, yet every single person those for it have spoken to find it hilarious

I think you'll find the 'pro-camp' are here to promote what was a campaign to raise money for a plane and is now to raise money for charity. Why are the 'non-pro-camp' here?

Because everyone is entitled to an opinion?

This again?

I feel like I've gone back in time 90 pages :)

I was questioning the reasoning that leads someone to still be here posting the same opinions over and over again about an idea that is going ahead regardless.

I understand why different points of view from Sunderland fans are on a Sunderland message board but why still on this thread?

Well I started a thread on the request of a couple of people to try and stop the arguments in here, and it only went a few pages before being parsnipped (someone else started a thread at the same time which never really took off). Read more:

Not much more I can do really. I'm certainly not going to stop posting because some people don't agree with me.

That's nothing compared to what the anti-plane people are having to suffer from you and your friends ;)

Whether or not it's going ahead doesn't make either camp more entitled to express their viewpoint.

I can't believe how wound up some of the pro-plane brigade are getting because there are so many people against it

There is you and a handful of people on this thread against it, nobodies getting wound up but it's totally killed the fund raising efforts and I wanted to raise as much for charity as we did for the plane to offset my karma ;)

Said that mate , no takers , just more bitching and trying to take the money already contributed .

If somebody sets up a page and it is agreed that the whole plane idea is scrapped I will happily kick off the donations with £50

Hell of a lot more than that to be fair mate.

As I say, I tried to start a thread so that any potential donations wouldn't be de-railed, but it never really happened. Though I'm really not sure the debate will affect that much; people will either donate or they won't.
