Ann Dumble..owner of the Durham Book Centre back in the day..gutted when it closed..became bit of a hang out for the punks in the town late 70's early 80's time..she could be a right misery like.
The daughter's called Candy Dumble. Sounds like an eating disorder. Bonny lass she was when she used to frequent the Jolly Sailor back in the 80's.

Never been in but it's been there ages. Tullys sewing shop is another that's been about years but still have never seen a single person go inside it.
 
Think about the mid 80s people wanted quantity not quality. Most of those sold the latter.

Maurice Velody was a furrier. He actually died young before the PETA and anti-fur movements gained traction and his business closed fairly shortly afterwards. It wouldn't have had a future in Sunderland anyway as most of his customers will have been Jewish women who all left town over the course of the migration away when all the Jewish shops closed.
