I wonder if they regret going for Grealish when Messi became available? I know Messi is 34 and not his best but his impact and experience would have been vital. Even as bit part player.

I was surprised they signed Grealish tbh. They have better players at the club and I couldn't see how he fit in.

Think he will be gone in the summer, regardless of who wins the PL. Six years of endless cash and no European cup, time for a change. Simon Grayson is looking to get back into management, currently on gardening leave so could start tomorrow.
 
Its funny how things go in cycles. Until 3-4 years ago Klopp had lost every final he'd ever been in and had a reputation for bottling big games. There were many ridiculous threads on here saying he should be sacked.

They're both brilliant managers and brilliant teams. The Man United treble side and Arsenal Invincibles are put on a pedestal - City and Liverpool would hammer them both. We should appreciate them instead of wanting to put them down.

What Fergie did with Man United was incredible but - playing devil's advocate - his record in Europe wasn't great and they spent far more in relation to everyone else than City do now.

Totally agree. I think he over-thinks things and tries to be too clever and it backfires on him. I wasn't surprised they lost last night (I didn't expect it to be in that manner though) just like I wasn't surprised they lost to Chelsea in the final last year.

Liverpool and Klopp are a whole different animal. That final few minutes last night would never have happened to them. I know they played lesser opposition than City on Tuesday but when they went 2-0 down and level on aggregate on the night I doubt anyone thought that they weren't going to get knocked out.

He’s a charlatan. If Speakman dines out on Bellingham then Pep dines out on Messi and the Barca team which fell into his lap.

He failed at Munich, embarrassing their Champions League legacy, and is finding buying a Champions League trophy at City is hard without Messi or a cheating Busquets.

Pretty much any top flight manager could have won the trophies he did at Bayern in a one-team league or at City due to the resources available.

His hypocrisy at Barca moaning his players needed ‘protection’ when his team committed so many fouls and unpunished fouls probably turned the gods against him for life.

I love watching both City and Liverpool matches. It’s brilliant football and up there as the best teams ever imo

They were only 16/1 when 2-0 down. Plus Facebook is littered with people who took and won that bet. That’s how little everyone thought Liverpool were beat.

I don't think it's fair to compare their Champions League performance like that.

City played Sporting, Atletico and Real Madrid in the knockouts. Liverpool played Inter, Benfica and Villareal. City had a harder run. Is Klopp better because Liverpool beat Villareal and City lost to Madrid?

Because if so, Liverpool lost to Madrid in the quarters and City beat PSG to get to the final. did that make Pep better then?

You can say the last minute collapse would never have happened under Klopp, but the fact is City have won 4 of the last 5 titles so clearly Liverpool have slipped up more than City along the way, regardless of when the goals were scored. They've pushed each other all the way though, there's been barely anything between them for years, I find the whole 'Pep fraud, Klopp great' thing bizarre when they're both absolutely unbelievable.

The years when lost the title were both due to almost identical fuck ups as well. City lost Kompany but decided not to sign another centre back thinking he could get away with dropping Fernandinho back then got a serious injury to Laporte early on. Liverpool had two injury prone centre backs alongside VVD, decided not to sign another one to prove a point then Van Dijk suffered a serious injury early on. Theres nothing to split them.

The point is Guardiola was brought in to win the Champions League and has failed at every attempt.

He has spent an absolute fortune and still not been able to do it whilst other managers since their takeover/investment have delivered the same trophies in domestic competitions.

If I was a Man City fan I would seriously be questioning his future at the club after last night.

Haway man, they had to rely on a Paddy McNair own goal when they played us at home in his first game as manager in 2016 and were panicking until that went in.

I am not saying he is a bad manager at all. He is not as his record speaks for itself. However he is certainly not this football manager God people make him out to be.

The ex pro commentators will still wax lyrical over him mind.
