Well Trescothick is better, but there's no way he'll play for England again.

Adam Lyth?
Heard a lot about him but not seen him play. Report in the paper couple of weeks ago suggested he was poor against spin?
aye.
playing again this week which is nice to hear
Varun Chopra seems to have the mental ability to construct a long innings.
two class innings do not make him a great option
amazing the turnaround in him, coz he was pretty poor at Essex
Yeah - Ive kept a bit of an eye on him since England under 19s. He ran Stoneman out 3 innings in a row both before and during the Under 19 world cup the third of which lead to Stoneman smashing a pillar with his bit in the changing room which caused the roof to cave inHe was sent home in disgrace
However back to Chopra - just throwing his name forward because there doesnt really seem to be many plausible options about.
bats 3 doesn't he?
and....more in the Championship....is there anyone?
Trott to open perhaps?
I wouldn't mind that. Bell could move to 3, Morgan to 5 and Stokes in at 6 as a batting allrounder.
how many times
He's a far better player now though, 5 seems too low in the order for him now.
he is a better player because he is out of the glare of batting up the order.
Michael Clarke bats at 5 leave him at 5, where he is flourishing
I think there might be more to it than that, he seems like he's thrived since Flower took over as coach and seems to have more confidence/presence when batting- but I suppose I'm just guessing. You're second point is fair, but imagine how many more runs he could score if he batted at 3?
If Strauss was out of the team, would you be in favour of bringing a new player in to open, or bring in a middle order player in (someone who could bowl perhaps) and expect the other batsman to be flexible?
