The most boring films ever. Really?

Someone at The Guardian has published the results from a survey (source unknown so far) as to which films the nation sees as boring. For me, there are one or two classics in there.

I wonder if it's because folk are becoming a bit impatient with everything these days? For example, I read that (musical) artists are now trying to get the hook into a song within the first 30 seconds, simply so it suits the Spotify generation.

Anyway, here's that list...

1. 50 Shades of Grey
2. The Blair Witch Project
3. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
4. Brokeback Mountain
5. Transformers
6. The Postman
7. The Artist
8. Australia
9. Vanilla Sky
10. Seven Years in Tibet
11. Batman and Robin
12. 2001: A Space Odyssey
13. The Matrix Revolutions
14. Showgirls
15. Far and Away
16. The Tree of Life
17. Noah
18. Meet Joe Black
19. Lincoln
20. Cleopatra

The Tree Of Life is terrible but there are some great films in there.

If #19 is short for Abraham Lincoln - Vampire Hunter then it's one of the greatest of all time

That'll be it then.
They need to look up their description of "boring" mind.

13. The Matrix Revolutions
and Reloaded are two of the worst films ever made. I try to convince myself that nothing was allowed to happen after The Matrix

Agreed, 2001 can be slow but you could never say it's boring!

And there is so much going on in Vanilla Sky, it's hard to keep up.
Mind you, with Penelope Cruz AND Cameron Diaz in your bedroom, it needs to be hard to keep up!

Source seems far from unknown to me:

There's a link there to NME revealing that the survey was commissioned by Samsung, basically to promote their washing machines and celebrate the release of the 66 minute film 'Washing machine: The Movie".

I'm assuming the survey involved people picking what people thought was most boring from a shortlist of films given to them rather than carte blanche to pick.

That'll be it then.

It's nowt to do with the Guardian beyond them reporting it.

Depends who the author is.
To be honest, when it comes to film stuff, I tend to listen to EMPIRE's veiws.

Good conversation piece mind

The author for the Guardian is irrelevant. It's a news report from them about a survey of 2000 members of the British public commissioned and run elsewhere (by Samsung) in which they were asked to pick the most boring film. It's NOTHING to do with the Guardian, or indeed The Express who also have an article reporting it.

Did they have a list to pick from or was it whatever they could come up with?
