The mags are claiming Durham CC now

and that’s lovely for you and those from Sunderland that go . But it is a song that is about people from Newcastle . That’s why it is a renowned NUFC anthem . How superb Durham have been or what they win is irrelevant . It will mean nothing to many people because of the Newcastle stuff

In your shallow mind. Don't watch then. you aren't a cricket fan and know absolutely nothing of Durham and our history

just showing how incredibly immature football fans are.

Don't watch, simple as that.
It's an interesting point. Durham ccc really lacks identity, it's all over the place. It's probably why the crowds are so poor, nobody knows what they are getting behind.

The crowds aren't poor.

Doesnt lack any identidy

Its why produce the most state educated international cricketers in the country

We have more "identity" the most counties.

you have really shown yourself up on this thread, way out of your depth, talking about stuff you simply dont understand or have the fortitude to handle
You said if you are not there, why do you care? Of course people can care about things they dont attend.I care about aberdeen fc, my granda was from there, but i dont get to watch them. I still care about them though. What if people are at work? Do they not matter in your silly point that you are making

But you dont care about Durham, you are just getting angry about a song you associate with football, thats got fuck all to do with cricket.

So stop pretendin you care, when you don't.

and go take your faux outrage somewhere else, we have a title to win.
Im not upset. They can sing it if they want. But it’s a Newcastle song and widely acknowledged as being so.

Er, no it wasnt when it started. Do some research.
Football only types are f***ing idiots

Spot on.

Obviously a huge SAFC fans but when you read some of the posts on this thread you notice the stark difference between those who like cricket too.

I dont wanna be too offensive, but its caveman stuff. Like a TalkSport phone in or someit.

I cant imagine them clapping an opposition batsman scoring a classy 100 like, probs be booing him and chucking abuse at him

The clip of this^^^^^^^. I think there is only one set of people getting angry on here pal. Just having a discussion about a Newcastle folk song getting sung by Durham cricketers. No need for the abuse. I bet you are the type at football matches that boos and chucks abuse at everyone, like you are doing to fellow posters on here.

I don't watch sunderland ladies, but I look out for their results, and would care if after a game they sang a totally inappropriate song.Likewise aberdeen.I know I have upset the cricket snobs on here enough for them to have a little cry and get all sweary though, so I won't upset yous anymore

‘totally inappropriate song’

None of the ‘cricket snobs’ are upset here as far as I can see, after all, they’re not resorting to childish name calling like you.
I am laughing n'all. Funny as owt how angry you lot get over ,basically, an opinion on a Newcastle folk song. You have a gud'n!

You’ve spent the last few pages telling a number of cricket snobs that they/we are upset/angry and the fact is that the only poster who is showing the traits of those emotions is you

Ohhhhhhhh me lads!!

Ha’way Durham
How superb Durham have been or what they win is irrelevant . It will mean nothing to many people because of the Newcastle stuff

Nah, that’s utter bullshit, it’ll mean nothing to many people because they weren’t and aren’t Durham cricket fans in any case.

Quite the contrary actually, but then I wouldn’t expect someone who cares little for cricket and/or Durham to know that. Their tagline for some time now has been ‘For The North’ and long before that tagline our ‘identity’ was to represent the entire area of the United Kingdom north of Yorkshire. I know many Durham members from Teesside, Cumberland, Northumberland and Scotland (aswell as Durham, obviously), oddly enough I’ve never heard them complaining about what to get behind…

You’re providing a cracking example of proving you’re not at all angry or upset about us though

The only ones getting upset and name calling are you lot mate.football only lot-f***ing idiots, cavemen, neanderthals,we hurl abuse at cricketers etc. You are meant to be sensible people man, no need for the insults. Like I say, it's a discussion about how appropriate a Newcastle folk song is for Durham. Stay classy, don't get abusive

There’s a fair bit of what sounds like members snobbery in amongst that mind.

Supporter of a club in ‘not caring what non-supporters of their club thinks about their club’ shocker.

Tell me, do you care what mags think about SAFC?

Who and where were these things said?

Not once have I been abusive to a ‘football only lot’ in this thread. Nor have I called anyone a snob like you.

What a daft thing to say, the fans who do watch Durham are simply getting behind their local county cricket team in their local area, not sure what’s difficult to understand about it complicated or lacking identity.

It’s absolutely straightforward?

I have never known a thread blown totally out of proportion like this a local cricket team singing a local song, shocker!

'Local song'.

Classic The Rat post this one

Aye.

I think with some people they seem incapable of separating football from cricket
No. Its just a discussion on whether this song is local though. Mentioning Scotswood Road and places in Newcastle doesn't seem appropriate for a durham anthem according to me and loads others. It's no big deal though
Quote me the post where he says ‘neanderthals’ as you referred to.
Looking back, it seems he didn't. Sorry. Cavemen then. It's just the same and no big deal, just seems funny getting this upset about nothing

You literally just made up a slur (neanderthals) and admitted to it mate.
Aye, my mistake. I was sure somebody said it earlier in thread. I am sure you have went back through this thread with a fine comb to check if it was said( no, you are definitely not bothered by this thread!).I believe you.

Now you’re making stuff up about me 🤷‍♂️

Look, I’m a Durham supporter. I’ve been going to games since 1997, I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with the team song. You do, that’s fine, let’s agree to disagree and if you get yourself down to the Leicestershire game we’ll have a pint and a laugh about it.

You are a good poster, you are right it's a daft argument that we just dont agree on. I'll not be going to the game though as I feel as a Sunderland football fan, I'll not be welcome ( only joking!)
