It is probably worth a thread of it's own, ECB v The Counties. I just think the primary motive of the 16.4 is to make money (unsurprisingly) rather than kill off the counties. I accept it is a danger to the Counties and I do share your concern for the future of domestic cricket though. I took your post to mean that it was specific to killing off Durham. If you meant all counties, fair enough. Franchise cricket just makes me want to be sick.
 
“Oh it’s just a bit of fun for the kids, it can work alongside the counties”. The ECB have no intention of making it work alongside county cricket

Yeah, all of them. But Durham are the one we're all most concerned with.

A world where the ECB control the franchises and the test match grounds is their wet dream. Not having to pander to the stupid counties and their selfish demands, perfect.
 
Watch them reorganise English cricket with the former counties relegated to second tier status with elite, regional sides sitting above them. Sheffield Shield and The Hundred will be the pretext.

If you think it wasn’t then I’d suggest it’s you who thinks Covid is a hoax. There’ve been murmurings in the corridors of FTECB for years and years about trimming down the number of counties. Comments from dickheads like KP will only bring the ‘debate’ to the fore.

The fact that I’ve seen a bit of support for it on a county cricket forum in the last 24 hours worries me immensely.
