Lasted about 2 hrs 45. About the same as a Blast game![]()
It’s definitely shorter like. Some T20 games are over 3.5 hours.

Some. The Blast is definitely about the same length I reckon (I know because I end up clock watching by the end to see if I can get the 9.24 from Burley Park, and manage it)It’s definitely shorter like. Some T20 games are over 3.5 hours.
1) I‘m not opposed to having a franchise league in England as I was but The Hundred isn’t it.I’ve given up officially now. My observations
1) franchise cricket is bullshit. I struggle with the IPL but this is way worse
2) the impact on counties is pathetic
3) changing the balls per over is just absurd
4) it’s ridiculously tacky
5) the one saving grace will be the positive impact on the women’s game
My nan could clear those boundaries.Boundary is ridiculously short in this game.
Aye it might just work just for the women’s game (but would it be condescending to have them playing this while the blokes play proper cricket?)1) I‘m not opposed to having a franchise league in England as I was but The Hundred isn’t it.
2) Agreed, especially when it looks like most of the people at the game tonight are the same people who go to watch The Blast so the “New Audience“ argument an get in the bin.
3) Yep, just make it T20. Everyone knows what T20 is, don’t complicate it.
4) Agreed....again.
5) I’m chuffed for the women like.
My nan could clear those boundaries.
Really? It’s definitely shorter like. Some T20 games are over 3.5 hours.
If they did an IPL style league (8 teams, 14 games) then you could have teams play between different grounds. E.G. Northern Superchargers playing between Headingley and CLS or Welsh Fire becoming Welsh-Western Fire and playing between Cardiff and Taunton.Aye it might just work just for the women’s game (but would it be condescending to have them playing this while the blokes play proper cricket?)
I just don’t know why they didn’t just do franchise T20. Never liked the idea of franchises but it was always going to happen eventually. This is just T20 but with a few less balls and five ball overs isn’t it? Change for the sake of it
Maybe in the IPL but not The Blast. It’s definitely shorter like. Some T20 games are over 3.5 hours.
I like the cut off time, potentially.
I remember Yorkshire winning a Roses game partly (ok a lot) thanks to that rule. Six run penalty. The thing is, T20 had a cut off time when it was first brought in, it used to be that you had 70 minutes to start the 20th over. It worked well, there was a run penalty for teams that missed the timing.
For some reason though it got abandoned and it’s got so bad that I’ve seen innings of the IPL that go close to two hours to complete. Absolute insanity.
If broadcasters want a short, sharp game, that can still be achieved with T20. You just make sure time restraints are enforced. If the team fielding first has only bowled 18 overs at 70 minutes, then they forfeit an over of the chase. Would be a piece of piss to do.
He’s a bit like marmite at the best of times and I’ve never been a hater, but I heard him on tonight and it was embarrassing. Trying far too hard (and not succeeding) to force excitement at the most mundane thing.KPs commentary is hideous as well like

The same game Finch hit that stupid point thing with a six. Last time we won there in that format I think

It’s hard to argue against there being a new audience when TV viewing figures are several times those that have been seen before in the UK.
Yes, the Blast on BBC might have done the same but that’s a similar argument.
Early signs are that it is reaching more people, which is undeniably a good thing.
Sky OneChrist didn't even realize there was a game today I take it wasn't on BBC.
Won't be watching myself, but its on Sky Sports all day today.Christ didn't even realize there was a game today I take it wasn't on BBC.
