The Hundred - Free tickets

Well watched the 2nd innings and nothing special although loads of the better English players involved.
Sadly for those who want it to fail that was a huge crowd and when you compare it to T20 blast matches at a lot of county grounds it was like an international.
Not really my cup of tea if I had the choice I would have preferred to have been at Beckenham watching Durham in a 50 over game. But sadly iam a dinasour and I doubt it would work at the Riverside.
I'm not so sure. End of the day, however you dress it up, its cricket. People might enjoy seeing balls being whacked around at the start but it'll soon become boring unless they identify with a team. Using City names that are associated with football teams wont help this.
As a cricket fan I sometimes watched the Big' Bash over the winter but I had to have a bet on to have any real interest in it. Otherwise it was on because there was nowt else on TV. I can't tell you how long it's been since I watched the IPL.

Saw a bit of the game tonight while I was at the bar of the cricket club, the graphics were worse than I expected after reading the comments.

I’m astounded how they can fuck it up so royally, because they told us all along they wanted to simplify the game for the uninitiated. Problem is, they’ve missed such an obvious own goal. If they want to make it SO easy to understand, the only graphic they need is runs, wickets and balls (either gone, remaining or both for those unable to add or subtract ) but instead it’s absolutely all over the place. It took me a good few balls of watching to work it out and I’m someone who has regularly manned the scorebook at cricket games.

I’ve never hidden my contempt for the tournament, but I tried tonight to get my head around the score from the graphics on the screen and it really wasn’t easy. The stats and the scoring system involved with cricket isn’t straight forward, never has been, but when someone who is as big of a cricket Badger as me can’t fathom the score graphic for a good minute or so, how are people who’ve never even watched the game (which remember is the target audience) going to follow it?

Another annoyance, on the drive home I noticed they had the commentary on 5 Live. The main channel, not Sports Xtra. The main one. Even f***ing Test matches aren’t on the main channel. It’s just massively annoying and quite frankly a big f*ck you to cricket and the millions of loyal cricket fans who existed prior to the reinvention of the wheel that the Beeb have never seemed that arsed about domestic cricket until now. I’ve defended the Beeb to the hilt over the years, I would go as far as to say I absolutely love the whole being of the organisation but they’ve seriously pissed me off this week with the amount of airtime and promotion they’ve done of this whilst pushing everything else to the bottom of their webpages and as afterthoughts in their coverage.

If people want to look at a new format, fair enough, but don’t f*cking lie to your fanbase all along and don’t wilfully neglect the game and the coverage of it that already exists and is already successful in its own right just to make it seem like the new woman in your life is more successful than she truly is. That goes for the Beeb, Sky and the ECB because in my view, there are people in that organisation who should be up infront of a judge for the way they’ve purposefully damaged and hamstrung county cricket and the counties in order to clear a path for this shite.

Agree with a lot you are saying but the crowd where definitely very vocal in support of the home team in the 2nd innings. Time will tell but comparing that occasion to a lot of T20 blast matches it just felt more like an international.

Personally I watch the IPL quite a lot and it is entertaining imo, and the standard of cricket is superb.

So in other words you don't like it so you annoyed its getting good coverage.

Looking at the teams tonight - I genuinely think Lancashire’s T20 side would beat Manchester.

If that’s genuinely the conclusion you’ve drawn from the quite extensive post that I made then you crack on with that. No point wasting my time explaining it properly if you didn’t get it the first time.

Yep that's exactly how I took the second half of your post, you don't like the concept you never have, and it's clear as day you pissed off its getting prime time coverage.

Would respect your comments more if you just admitted that.

You quite right of course that domestic cricket does not get enough coverage, yet this week when it has you admitting been annoyed about it!!

Thanks for confirming what I thought initially - you have problems with your reading and comprehension 👍

You’ve admitted several times on here that you don’t like county cricket - so it’s provably best you check yourself out of this one. Can’t expect you to understand the very valid and fair point I made about the coverage when you quite clearly don’t watch/listen/read any of it anyway.

I'm sure it is. I find most cricket entertaining, but with no local side to support I don't look forward to games or take the interest I would if I did.
Fair enough mate, I have always been more of a netrual and enjoy quality top class world cricketers on show which are in the IPL.

5Live carried the IT20 the other night TBF... it’s cos it’s in a window with no football or Wimbledon.

Can’t disagree that the graphics are rank.

I think the scoring system is no more complicated than a normal game (if someone landed from Mars they’d pick up both in the same time I reckon) but equally it’s no easier. So daft to change it when it alienates existing fans.

I never at all said I don't like county cricket,I like all cricket it's myth that you keep peddling.

What I have said many time is club cricket is more important to me than county cricket.

You would think someone who thinks correctly that domestic cricket does not get enough coverage, would be pleased it has this week, instead you actually annoyed as you have admitted in your post.

I disagree, the usual score on the bottom of the screen used by Sky, BBC, Star Sports or whoever is much more simplified and easy on the eye and that of course is the overriding importance.

One banner at the bottom with everything you need in order. Score first, overs next (the important bits), then your extra pieces, which aren’t ‘need to knows’ but if you’re a proper badger like me and want to know things like the batsmen’s scores, the bowling figures, run rate, delivery speed, target, runs required, etc then it’s all there.

What I saw tonight was a nonsense. Shite on the left, shite on the right, stuff on the bottom in different sizes and colours.

As I said, I’ve regularly scored matches and from time to time used different colours for different means, but it all had symmetry and meaning and was easy to read. What I saw tonight didn’t.

I’m not getting drawn into driving round a semantics roundabout with you. You don’t care for county cricket as much as you do club and international - you’ve admitted that much. So there’s no point wasting time arguing with you about county cricket.

Which has been evidenced by the next part of your post below. You’ve missed the point monumentally. Which comes as no surprise given your disinterest and ambivalence towards the counties.

I agree that needing your eye to go from the left to right is hideous mate but that’s the graphics rather than the scoring system...

I’m just of the view that saying 54/2 off 37 balls is no worse than 54/2 off 7.2 overs (in the new currency).

I wondered if some of the naff flashing graphics required an epilepsy warning mind 😳

Caught some of this tonight. Agree on the point about the graphics - hideous.
Also, nearest team to us = Leeds. Fuck that, I’m out.
