The best thing that Sunderland has ever produced musically

Very leftfield and probably unknown but I'd say The Bubble Project or Indoor Fireworks (although I'm not certain they're a Sunderland band).

The Cuckoos and the Clartplodgers are supposed to be amazing (athough I'm not certain they're a band)

He turned the tables there mind. Well, in one sense at least.

They have to be up there then, surely. The Postie must have cloth lugs if he thinks the lads on offer here are up there with the likes of Stewart and Ferry.

was out with bob marshall (bass player john miles band) recently and he was telling me he sat next to him at school , so i guess bryan ferry counts a sunderland:p

We didn't like the biz bar crowd marra we thought they were petentious twats, one or two like PB or Jimmy Mac would sit in there but most of us thought that lot were tossers.
We liked our scooters and our flash clothes but we were all basically working class lads and thought that the biz bar crowd were wankers.
Junco Partners and Geno Washington were more our style.

He does IMO. A good mate of mine gave him his break, which he acknowledges in some piece he wrote. I can't be arsed to look for the article but I know it's true. Despite people on here telling me it was shite when I first posted about it.

Ferry went to school in Washington, he was in my mate's dad's class at school so he must class as a Sunderland lad IMO.

Successful and best are two different things. I cannot say who from Sunderland has been the most successfull, and with regards to the best this is subjective to musical taste.

So for me I would say that Monty Casino, The Spheres and the band I was in, 'Seventythree' were the best due to our soul funk musoc which are genres I love. We were a breath of fresh air and something different in a scene saturated by Indie bands a few years back in Sunderland and beyond.

Mind I did experience a little of the later stages of the Punk AND skin scene in Sunderland and the passion and energy of this scene was fantastic.

Both very good.

I have some grand tales from back then, smoking the finest and listening to people like Mick Grabham, Nigel Olsson, Ferry and later on Dave Stewart, Peet Coombes, Roy Harper and The String Band wouldn't dream of posting much about them on here though. I'm not like you in that respect. ;)

There's another lad on here used to hang around with John Martyn and he keeps his gob shut anarl.
