Thank you Dan Neil

There was a video where players were asked "who's the thickest in the squad" and they all said "Dan Neil".

I'm sure the truth of all this will come out eventually but as things stand he'll go with everyone's best wishes.

Liam Brady, Paul Gascoigne, Wayne Rooney and many, many more excellent footballers would never be thought of as having a high IQ.

Thanks Dan and good luck for the rest of your career.

It’s pretty sad that a lad who has been at the club since he was a young child and was so significant in our rise through two divisions back to the top flight never got the chance to prove himself on the biggest stage with Sunderland. Obviously football is extremely ruthless and cut-throat and whether it was his perceived inability to perform in the Premier League or his contract situation it still feels like a less than satisfactory ending to Dan’s time at SAFC.

This. Club needs to be careful it doesn't trade all the good it's done to reconnect the club with the fans for short term success on the pitch, and we make sure these lads are being replaced by players who want to be here, not by players who just want to be in the Premier League.

I agree, can't really argue about results, but in my opinion should have played more from the bench this season.

But then I thought the same about a few in the Championship that the manager didn't fancy, and that worked out too.

Be interesting to see how he does for Ipswich. Not having played for over half a season isn't going to help although he's should at least have plenty in the tank when others are maybe getting leggy. Best of luck to him, wonder where he'll end up next season.
