Takeover talks not going great

I know its a disgrace we are in this position but i was ready to accept relegation(again) if it meant short was gone and a fresh start.....aint gonna happen is it yank prick

Pretty much this. Short got himself into the SBC mess, I think he'll need to try and get us out of it before anyone will invest. If by the end of next season we've got more big contacts gone (including rodwells which will have eventually expired, thankfully), we've refinanced the external debt and we've managed to piece together a side that wins promotion and we're back in the Championship, then you might find a serious bidder being interested. Until then I doubt we'll get anyone particularly promising
I'm leaning towards this being the unfortunate but likely scenario now. Just not sure about the immediate promotion bit. That will take some investment because of the sheer number of players required to fill the squad.
I could see a season of stagnation.

Mate this is a very honest question.

Do you honestly think the best thing to do when, heading to div 1 and the financial abyss is to build a 60,000 seater ground ?
Depends on the ambition and cash status of the new owners. I know it seems far out but we will be back, Short has totally mismanaged us. It’s only viable if we intend to get back into the top flight and charge £10-15 but yes if it was me in charge and I had the cash yes I would do it now, less disruption while the crowds are low.

Yep. No doubt some who are SAFC fans who would never have been able to have a sniff at owning us in the prem but who are in with a chance now and would love to have a go. I'd like owners who genuinely give a fuck but without money they will struggle unless they happen to be absolutely mint at running a football club, it's a huge risk and, tin hat on, I think I'd rather have Short
We discussed this in the car on the way back from Reading, this is what my mate said, and I must admit if the new people have not got enough cash to make the difference then I agree and I hate Short

Mate I massively admire your ambition but I suspect that the cost of adding a further 18,000 seats when you havnt got a pot to piss in is maybe not the best mov

Agreed and that’s why I included the bit about the new owners with cash and ambition. Short obviously wouldn’t have the foresight to do it.

Short will be gone sooner rather than later, I just hope it's sooner before the club becomes even further adrift. Pretty clear he's more or less given up on his investment and for two or more season not been prepared to go in any deeper, but he'll just be trying to rescue as much out of it as he can, before it starts costing him even more. The hope is that we get someone in capable, because what is already an almighty mess could get much worse even allowing for Short's carelessness.

Sounds like a plan! I don't think any other PL sides charge £10-£15 a ticket though.
In any event the real problem we would have is getting the right players to come the club. That's been the major problem for the last 10 years.

Cheap match tickets don’t work though mate. Ours are fairly well priced and we should continue to reward loyalty with affordable season cards.

Not so much in the lower leagues because matchday income is a bigger % of t total turnover. Get much less TV and sponsorship cash the lower you go.

Match day revenue is huge in the lower leagues. It’s also more important in the PL since FFP came in

No it's not. The wage bill will be significantly lower, just not low enough to survive on the vastly reduced income.

It's no doubt getting lower all the time when we actually shed players, but people get too far caught up with the 40% reduction thing. Even that last season would have likely just took us down to a comfortable level in the PL given our % of income to turnover before it and it wouldn't take into account players wages we were still paying who we'd moved on or managers we've sacked and were still making payments too and a lot of the other wages around the club of young pros and other staff. If the papers and loan wage contributions are to be believed we were also still making up large chunks of 3 or 4 wages elsewhere too, I dare bet this seasons wage bill was at least on a par with a newly promoted PL club looking to extend it's wages in the top flight.

I had thought similar myself given the lack of any news over the last week or so. Were going to end up with Short for another 2 seasons I think.

Not surprising, they're probably worried about paying Rodwell for the next few years.
